"Bye, Ian!" My older sister, Calista, called out before closing the door to our house. I just sighed and took my shoes off, along with the jacket I had on as well. "That was fun, wasn't it?" Calista smiled at me.
"Yeah, for you." I muttered, walking into the kitchen.
"What do you mean?" She asked, following me.
"Everything was fine until you showed up and started flirting with Ian, who was my date!" I snapped, opening up the fridge.
"I wasn't flirting with him! Besides, it wasn't really a date! You guys were just hanging out and I happened to run into you guys." She pointed out, defending herself.
"But you always do this!" I turned to her, still frustrated. "Whenever I like a guy, they meet you and completely forget about me!"
"That's not my fault! I can't help that boys like me more than you." She crossed her arms. I huffed, rolling my eyes and looking into the fridge again. I smiled once I spotted apple juice, my favorite drink. "And I'm sorry that I steal the attention from guys that you like." She continued.
"It's not just about boys, Calista. It's about everything! School, sports, family, everything! You always outshine me so I'm invisible!" I complained once I took the apple juice out.
It was true though. No matter what I did, Calista topped. If I got straight A's on a report card, Calista would get that along with extra credits from after school. If I made the cheer team, Calista would become captain of the cheer team. If I found a way to hang out with a boy I like, Calista would steal his attention and they would fall for her instead. Just like tonight. Not only that, but sometimes guys would date me just to get close to my sister!
"Nicole...I don't mean to. It just happens, what do you want me to do?" She asked, trying to make things better as I got a cup and poured myself apple juice.
I shook my head. "Just stay away from me." I said before taking my apple juice upstairs with me to my room. I ignored my sisters calls and shut my bedroom door, sipping my juice, and setting it down. I pulled out my phone and plopped onto my bed, laying down and going on vine. I recently started vining a few weeks ago, posting vines of me either singing or being funny. People must really enjoy them too because I have over 500k followers. I loved vine, it was the only place that my sister didn't take over. Although I'm sure she would if she made them, but she just viewed.
I smiled as I went through the popular, mostly filled with boys about my age which is 16. The boys known as Magcon Boys. My sister is obsessed with them, and I'm sure she could easily get any of them since she's basically perfect.
My phone dinged and I got off the app and onto my email. I furrowed my eyebrows as I noticed an email from Bart Bordelon. How did he get my email, and why was he emailing me? I opened the message and read through, my jaw dropping once I realized what it was saying.
I had been invited to the Magcon Tour.
"AAAAHHHH!" My sister screamed, piercing my ears.
"Calista!" I scolded, more than annoyed.
"I'm sorry, I just can't believe this! You got invited to the Magcon Tour, you're going to be traveling with not only the funniest, but hottest guys in the world!" She exclaimed. We were downstairs eating breakfast the next morning and I showed her the email I got last night, wanting to know what she thought. She may be annoying, but I still loved having her for a sister.
I raised an eyebrow. "In the world? Really?" I questioned doubtfully as I took my phone away from her, scared she would throw it or something out of excitement.
"Yes! And I can't believe you get to travel with them, I'm so jealous!" She gushed.
"That's a first." I mumbled so she wouldn't hear. But she did and playfully hit my arm. "Anyway, I'm not sure if I'm even going to go. It is mostly over break so I don't have to worry about school, but I don't know if I'd be able to do the whole stage part. I mean, I don't usually get attention and thousands of people staring at me scares me." I explained.
"You have to go! You always complain about me taking your spotlight, so here's your chance to shine! Why wouldn't you go? Because of a small fear? Once you get on that stage I'm sure you'll be fine." Calista encouraged, actually making me feel good about myself.
I shook my head. "But what about mom and dad? They'd never let me go on a tour for months, traveling around the country and having fun...surrounded by boys." I pointed out.
"I'll help talk them in to it. I'm pretty persuasive." Calista bragged, a smug smile on her face. "I bet I can easily get mom and dad to say yes."
"Say yes to what?" Calista and I both turned to see our mom entering the kitchen.
Calista shot me a smile before excitedly explaining everything to our mom. "Nicole got invited to join the Magcon Tour from vining, mom!" Calista squealed.
"A tour? How long? What about school, when does it start? Where are you going, who with? I need more information." My mom rambled.
"It's during break so I don't have to worry about school, and they want me to fly to LA tomorrow." I answered, avoiding the question of who with.
"Who else is going?" My mom caught I didn't answer that one.
I sucked in my lips, not wanting to say boys. "Other viners." I replied cautiously.
"Yeah, cute viners!" Calista spoke up. I kicked her from under the table. I guess she's not good at taking hints.
"So you'll be traveling with boys?" My mom asked.
"Yeah, but there will be workers and stuff too!" I pointed out.
"No. You can't go." My mom answered simply.
"Mom, please! I never get to do anything like this, this is my shot at becoming noticed! I'll be in LA where there's producers that might notice my singing!"
"There's also boys!" She added.
"So? it's not like I'm going to fall in love and get pregnant!"
"Well..." Calista trailed off, making me kick her again. "About the first part! They are very attractive boys!" She said.
"It doesn't matter, I'll be there for the tour, not the boys!"
"Come on mom, let her go! It's a once in a lifetime opportunity, she's following her dream!" Calista joined in, helping me persuade my mom.
My mom stood there, thinking for a minute. "Okay, fine." She sighed, making me smile and jump up. "But!" I froze. Buts were never good. "But, Calista has to go with you."
Calista stood up, sqealing. But I had a different reaction. A lot different reaction. I just stood there, jaw dropped and filled with anger and sadness. If Calista came, everyone would notice her and not me. I'd be hidden in her shadows once again.
"Mom, isn't there any other way?" I asked hopefully.
My mom shook her head. "No. This way she can make sure nothing happens with you, specifically with the boys." My mom explained, making me scoff.
"I think you'll have to worry more about her than me." I crossed my arms.
"Don't worry. It's your time to shine, everyone will be focused on you." Calista assured me, but I still didn't believe it. I know she didn't try, people were just naturally drawn to her looks and bubbly personality. But I still couldn't help but smile.
I was going on the Magcon Tour.
Hope this wasn't too boring, but I'm really excited for this story! It's my first Magcon fanfic, what'd you think? Keep and continue? Delete and end? Please comment and let me know if you want more!
