Perfect Expectations

smiling girls and smiling boys

perfect dresses ,perfect ties

matching bands and matching rings

these aren't any of my favorite things!

crossing roads while holding hands,

stylish tops with printed pants

laughing,joking,dancing too

every thing we have to do

this is wrong and that is right

he is dumb and she is bright

I thought we too, have a voice

let's use it in making our own choice

once we're sure it all is done

rules are less and freedom is ton

but still we find 'it' sit and stare

expecting perfection in the air

by now 'it' knows us way too well

knows our problems we won't tell

expecting our masks to stay up tight

expecting us to think 'it's'right...

and maybe 'it' could also win

cause no one likes the hateful Ben

but in the end it is our role to play

to add the truth in a 'perfect' day

so that is what this poem wants

to be our selves and leave 'it's' taunts

cause lousy sweats and loose t-shirts

are worth the price of our comforts

and sneaking,crying,talking it out

will make our true perfection sprout.

and in the end 'it' will be gone

not judging us for any con

and we will be called perfect, then

cause there will be no perfection!
