Early This Morning

Early this morning

About one o'clock

I went outside

And stood in the middle of the street

It was windy and cold

And just slightly wet

I could smell the sea

Though I didn't know why

Because I live on top of a mountain

I stood there, then I danced

To a tune that

Only I could hear

The sound of the wind

Whistling through the trees

And the dogs barking at the moon

No one knew I was there

And that suited me

Just fine as I danced

Away all of my troubles

And gave them to the wind for the night

Then I went back inside

And I went to bed

Happy and calm

And ready to face them when I awoke
