Happy Halloween, Wrimos!
It's the time of the year again when writers all across the globe gear up to write 50000 words in a month. I've been doing NaNo every year since 2011, and I might have mentioned that A Magical Misfortune was a NaNo novel. Yup, 2015 was the first year I won.
Of course I've changed a few things since then, but the heart of the story has remained the same in the two years since I first typed "The End." This NaNoWriMo, I'm coming back to AMM to finish up the second draft. I started writing the second draft on July 8th, adding more scenes, slightly changing a story line, and cutting chapters 14-19. The draft I posted on here is about 50k, give or take a few words. By the end of NaNo, I'm hoping to have upped the word count to 90k.
It's shorter because of the chapters/scenes I cut but I have high hopes that I'm on the right track. I always planned to submit this story for publication. I took a few chances but it just wasn't ready yet. And things don't always work out the way we hope. I'd love to to start submitting the finished draft for publication sometime in February.
I did ask for comparison title help in my last update. Thank you so much to everyone who responded. AMM's final comps are:
The Addam's Family
Sabrina the Teenage Witch
I think that works!
Next up, I'll be updating the playlist. I want to share it but it isn't perfect yet. The Stranger Things soundtrack has got me inspired.
I hope you guys have a wonderfully, frightful night!
Updated to add:
I found a super helpful way to do NaNo the other day. It's called Reverse NaNo. I'm going to try it this year. It might help some of you guys reach 50k as well. <3
