Chapter 8: What could stop it?

Carnal's POV

After hearing the roar from below, we had decided to escape the laboratory. If we can escape the temple then maybe we wont have to deal with it.

Riga had run a little more on the slow side but even so, we were all just trying to escape the chimera that was locked below.

"It wont be able to catch up too quickly right?" Achelo questioned as he hovered. Xcava shook his head. "I am positive of the fact, what was holding it back may have aged enough for it to not be as effective." Xcava said but Achelo didnt look pleased.

Achelo and I were the fastest as both Xcava and Riga were struggling to keep up.

The roars were rather loud as well but all that did was make us wanna run more. We hadnt the time to freeze in fear nor the power to face that thing down.

Running was the only option we had and so that is what we did. We just kept running.

We had finally reached the stairs out and as we finally made contact with the grassy meadow we all just took a giant breath.

We hadnt much time to rest however, we had to get back to base so to plan out just what to do.

"We should tell the village. Warn them about what is below this place, make sure none of them come here." Riga suggested and I had to think about if that were smart or if we had the time for the detour.

Achelo nodded. "Yeah sounds like a plan but we need to be fast about this." Achelo stated and then took off flying.

I just looked at Xcava. "What is your next step?" I asked Xcava but then he lifted me onto his back. "The next step is following Achelo, I think that it is best we hurry anyway." Xcava stated then took to the sky.

It was my first time riding a dragonite and I had to admit that it was a nice flight. "Do you always have the capability to fly this fast?" I asked curiously. My eye colour changed to show this.

"No but this is an emergency situation." Xcava stated and then I noticed the village was within sight.

I pointed it out so Xcava knew just where to land, if you are wondering Riga had decided to also ride with us just he was quite for the whole flight, he landed with grace.

The village was quite a buzz with yelling but by the sound of it, it was not good yelling.

"Tell us again why we have to abandon our village? A chimera?" The lead of the rabble questioned Achelo.

We all ran over to help the process. "It was called the ZZ project. A powerful chimera had been made from this and it has broken loose." Riga had stated to the villagers but most snorted.

"Like we would believe a gengar." They stated toward Riga.

One villager stepped forward, it was Zax the noctowl. "I believe them. That temple has some creepy stuff in it so I believe this." Zax stated but most of the village gave us a glare.

Zax's mother dragged him away and the villagers were walking away as well. "Achelo was that meant to go this way?" I queried and Achelo gave a stern headshake.

Clearly that would be a no. "Well maybe we should head back to base now?" I asked but after doing so a loud sound was heard off in the distance.

"The chimera..." Achelo took to the air to get a better view. I glanced up at Achelo. I was hoping for good news but Achelo had a very grim expression.

"The sunken temple has been turned to rubble and the chimera managed to crawl out of it. I could see it standing above the rubble." Achelo explained.

Xcava blinked. "Meaning with how quick it was to accomplish that, it wont take it much time to reach the village." Xcava looked very worried and Riga also had a very worried look.

I stepped forward and felt a different feeling. "Why should we make it a worry? Yes we dont know what it will take to defeat it but if lives are at stake than we must try! A true adventurer never will turn their backs upon the goal. Our goal is to prevent the village being destroyed." I stated and Achelo gave me a look of joy.

Through it all I have had Achelo beside me, although a short time shared I can feel as though Achelo has helped me. I feel like my purpose has been shown to me.

I grinned and then we gathered close together. "Lets plan this out. We dont have much in the way of time left." Achelo stated.

Riga smiled. "Well we should be able to fight pretty well and besides that I can mega evolve but even so we need a battle strategy."

I agreed. "We should make it so we can be within range of each other as we battle and also coordinate our attacks with the member closest to us." I explained.

"For a ten year old, red riolu you certainly know battle strategy." Riga chuckled. I chuckled as well.

"That comes from having the need for battle strategies." I explained and then after all was said and done we moved outside the village and awaited the chimera.
