Chapter 7: The ZZ Project?

Carnal's POV

We had been looking through more and more files about whatever this lab had stored inside.

"Well by the looks of it, the research they had been doing here was very complex." Riga had stated in a very blunt way.

Achelo had agreed with a nod while Xcava and I were still reading different files. Some reminded me of the remnants of the lab I was from.

The torn pages and spastic scribbles were quite the indication of just how frantic the scientists were. "Hmm I wonder if they could be connected?" I questioned out loud.

Xcava looked at me curiously. "You mean you have made a link between these pages?" Xcava asked with excitement.

"Not quite, I feel maybe that what was happening here may be linked with how I was altered." I explained and Xcava nodded with some interest.

Achelo sighed. "So that is why you want to investigate this place? Maybe to find answers towards how you came to be, Carnal?" Achelo asked me and I looked to the side.

"That would be very accurate but I also wish to see just what this place contains because of being curious and  adventure." I explained and then Achelo gave me a very happy look.

"Carnal... you are a true sort of explorer." Achelo complimented then hugged me gently.

Xcava and Riga just continued looking through documents while Achelo and I shared this moment between us. Mentor and student.

Once Achelo and I had our moment we began looking through the files again and I noted a pattern. "ZZ... these two letters are always being shown." I told the others and they seemed to agree.

"Yeah it is odd but let us remember that they repeat." Xcava stated. "Maybe it is a clue of what to search for in the documents."

We all nodded to show our agreement. I continued my search through all the papers I could find and eventually had gone through all of them. "Hmm so I found about ten pages that mention ZZ somewhere in them." I told the others.

Xcava sighed. "I found only two in my pile." Xcava expressed how annoyed he was.

Riga had found five papers with the mention and Achelo had found as many as I did.

"Well now we have found all the papers lets put them together then read through to discover what the ZZ project was." I said with a grin and after saying so, the others cheered.

It was meant to be the saving grace project of our science group.

We had followed the task set out by the royal family themselves, the task of creating the most powerful creature.

We had decided to create a creature from others DNA, a chimera.

This project is going to be labeled the ZZ Project because of the founder being named Zedric Zeta.

...

It was harsh enough to procure the DNA but even harder still is to see all the failed projects around us.

The laboratory has begun to stick of death.

...

What could it be of what this project is meant to help with, I question it having a real necessity but we must push on or we shall never be able to get a success from all this effort.

...

We may have accomplished it, our first ZZ project success. The chimera has yet to awaken but it has a beating heart at least.

Wont it awaken or is it sleeping for to conserve itself?

I wish my question had never gained an answer... I regret this project and just pray that nobody else follows in our way of processing... the creature we created is a terrifying monster.

I finished reading what the notes listed out and then looked at the others. "A chimera, a monster made to classify as the strongest creature. Why would that of been a good idea?" I asked Achelo and the others.

Achelo looked unhappy. "Because the royal family never had an understanding of how corrupt they were from power, they could never have enough." Achelo said in a lowly caw.

Riga looked at us. "This creature is still here somewhere, they must have sunk the temple so to seal it away. Since we are here that means that it is no longer bound in here." Riga stated.

Xcava gulped. "Lets hope it hasnt awakened." Xcava stated but just then a roar bellowed from below.

The chimera... had awakened again.
