The tension in the room at that moment could easily be cut with a knife. The silence was deafening. Nelly's mouth hung open as if she couldn't believe what I just did. I stood in front of Michael clutching the glass and breathing heavily.

I watched Michael's face flash with conflicting emotions. His body was rigid with fury and his right fist was clenched. He quickly masked his emotions and took purposeful steps toward me. We were just inches apart now and I could feel his mint breath on my face. I refused to back down as he looked down at me trying to intimidate me.

I met his gaze squarely and nearly cowered. His eyes were cold and did nothing to hide his hateful disdain. His jaws clutched and lips narrowed. We stood staring each other down for a few seconds which to me felt like an eternity. I needed him to know that I am no pushover, so I stood my ground.

"What the hell is going on here!"

The voice of my husband pulled me out of my trace.
I turned to look at my husband, stunned.

"Michael, will you look at me and answer my question?"

"And why are your face and the front side of your shirt wet?" He demanded.

Michael didn't say a word and just brushed past me, bumping shoulders with me on his way.
My husband's tone softened when he saw the dejected look on my face.

"Raquel, what happened between you and Michael?" He asked with concern in his voice.

I didn't speak a word and rushed into his arms. I needed to be held so badly.

"What's wrong?" He asked again.

"Just hold me," I murmured.

Meanwhile, Frank and Nelly stood at the corner watching silently at the scene unfolding before them. Frank followed Michael to his room whilst Nelly gave me a signal that she was leaving and will call to check up on me. She took her handbag and left looking perplexed.

I stood in my husband's embrace for about two minutes before I broke away. He led me upstairs to our room all the while holding my hands.

"I thought you and Michael were doing fine. So what happened to destroy that?" He looked at me with a creased eyebrow worry evident on his face.

"Nothing I can't handle," I replied

"Are you sure?" He stated in doubt.

"Do you want me to talk to him? To put him in his place," He implored.
He stood up in an attempt to get to the door.

"No baby! I can do this on my own,"  I voiced out.

"This is a mother-son issue let me deal with it," I stated with a smile trying to ease his worry.

He reluctantly agreed and made me promise to inform him if Michael ever do anything to make me feel uncomfortable.

"I cross my heart," I replied in an exaggerated manner hoping it will make him drop the issue.

He sighed, apologizing on Michael's behalf, and continued to update me about how his day went. I tried to follow whatever he was saying. But my thought kept running back to the incident with Michael.

Dr. Yeboah went to his study room during the evening to mark some assignments he gave his students, leaving me alone in bed.
I took my phone to check my WhatsApp messages and realized Nelly had left a dozen texts. Most of her texts were geared toward how I was feeling. I replied to them as best as I could. I wanted to call her for a chat but she left a message that she was in a middle of a date.

I wasn't interested in talking to anyone on WhatsApp and therefore decided to read a novel. I looked through the collection by my bedpost and selected a fantasy romance with a werewolf theme.
I read for about two hours and was starting to get bored.
I took my bath to freshen up and changed
into my nightwear.

It was 10:30 pm now and my husband was still in his study. I went to his study and peeked my head into the room.

"Baby, when are you coming to bed ?" I asked.

He looked up at me and told me he had a lot to do, instructing me to go back to bed.
I kept tossing in bed when my mind kept running with several thoughts. I eventually hopped out of bed and decided to grab an ice cream from the kitchen fridge.

The house was audibly quiet as I made my way to the kitchen my footsteps being the only noise I could hear. The kitchen was dark when I got there but I didn't bother turning the lights on since I could easily maneuver my way to the fridge to take the ice cream I was craving at the moment.

I closed the fridge after I got what I wanted only to come face to face with a dark figure. A hand came to cover my mouth quickly as I attempted to scream.
My back was now pressed against the fridge and I was scared out of my wits.

The figure started laughing.

"Poor kitten," The figure stated before recognition dawned on me.

"Michael, what the hell was that?"  I questioned and angrily shoved his hand from my mouth.

I tried pushing him out of my way and my hands move out of their own accord pressing on his bare chest. They were hard and toned and my hands lingered on his chest longer than necessary.

"You like what you are touching?" He whispered huskily in my ears.

I could feel my cheeks heating up. If I was white skinned I will be blushing red by now.

"Move out of my way!" I managed to say with less audacity than I was hoping for.

"Not so soon sweetheart," He stated firmly running his hands softly along my checks.

My breath hitched in my throat as a result of the electric sensation his touch was giving me.

"That stunt you pulled today, don't ever repeat that ever again. I bet you don't want to see my bad side," He stated softly brushing my hair out of my face with his fingers.

I leaned into his touches as my body refused to listen to the command of my mind. How can a person be so stern with his speech and tender with his touches at the same time? It was like I was a fragile glass and he was afraid I could break any moment.

I was in a daze and as much as I wanted to retort to his statement my mind couldn't form any sentence.
He leaned towards me and planted a kiss dangerously close to my mouth.

"Be a good girl, mom," He chastised in a mocking voice and left without looking back.

His body warmth gradually left me and I started feeling cold as I watched him retreat out of the kitchen with his scent lingering behind.
