七 ; blind trust

is this called blind trust?

i've learned enough to know that
trust has to be earned
but this guy literally just saved my life
so i guess i'm left with no other option

apparently we're heading to the same place
i realise that he's also missed his train
part of the reason being

little
accident

why was I so careless?

i apologise for the nth time
he says it's nothing
he doesn't seem bothered
that he missed his train
which is a relief

he asks if i'm hurt anywhere
i shake my head
no, other than the dull throbbing in my head
but he has a small scrape on his arm

dragging him into the convenience store
i pick out a couple bandages
and some ointment to prevent infections

he's silent when i start dab it on his cut
his face scrunches
as if trying hard to bear the stinging pain

i can't help but feel guilty
this was my fault anyway
a stranger got hurt
but i got off without a scratch

he says we should check for the next train
and we make our way towards the station
only to frown when the lady says
the next train to cheongju
wouldn't be there until morning

i apologise again

he still hasn't taken off his mask yet
but i can still see his little eyesmile

"dont be
it's fine really
much better than an accident"
he muses

i turn to go
but i feel his grip around my arm
"it's dangerous for you to loiter around
are you sure you want to go alone?"

besides the fact that he saved me
i don't have any reason to trust him
just yet

but that look he gives me convinces me otherwise
something about him seems different
it makes me feel warm inside, reassured
in some sort of odd way

"let's just go together
you don't look like you're used
to travelling alone"
he suggests
"trust me"

i have pepper spray in my bag
i think i can handle a stranger for one night
