'Is something wrong?' You asked him, noticing a splatter of what you hoped wasn't blood on his forearm. 'Is that...?' You touched his arm lightly with your finger as you pointed at it, and he flinched. You frowned again, he was acting so unusual.

'Yes, zat is blood. My job iz just...stressful.' He struggled to find the right word, whilst rubbing at the blood on his arm.

'Well, don't work yourself too hard, ok Med?' You said, and you reached out to pat him on the shoulder. At the last second, you remembered he would get jumpy so you stopped yourself and drew your hand back.

'IT'S READY, GRAB A PLATE!' Soldier proclaimed proudly, putting 10 plates onto the bench. Demo pushed some down to your end of the table and you took two, passing one to Sniper who had sat down with a bottle of water in hand.

'Cheers, Roo.' He said, and before long the sounds of eating had filled the room. Soldier had made a fry up of some sort, though something was off about it. You ate another forkful, and the answer hit you like a train. Well, actually it you like your mouth was on fire. Because it was. There was a yell from Heavy, who began choking, and everyone in the room was breathing out heavily through their mouths. Soldier had seemed to have put a ton of chilli in it. You were breathing quickly too, gasping for air. Sniper's face had gone red, and he was taking massive gulps from his water bottle. You sprang up and opened the fridge door. You grabbed the entire case of water and slammed it on the table. Everyone dived for it, desperate to put out their flaming mouths. After a few minutes, the room had calmed once more.

'What ze 'ELL did you put een zat, Soldier?!' Demanded Spy.

'RICE, CHICKEN, SOME PEPPERS - '

'What kind of peppers?' He fumed, furious that he had shown weakness in front of everyone.

'THESE ONES!' He held up an empty packet that read "Chilli peppers".

'You imbecile! Zose are chilies!'

'THE PACKET SAYS "PEPPERS" MAGGOT!'

'And chili! 'Ow many did you put een eet?'

'THE WHOLE PACKET.' He said, and everyone promptly pushed their plates away from them.

'Looks like we're gonna go without lunch today.' Scout said, his face even redder than Sniper's.

'WELL THEN! MORE TRAINING TIME FOR YOU MAGGOTS!' Soldier shouted gleefully, dragging Scout, Heavy and Demo out of the room, despite their loud protesting. You almost felt sorry for them.

'We should get to the roof, yeah?' Sniper stood up and tugged your sleeve.

'The roof? Oh, right. Yeah.' In the heat of the moment (pardon the pun) you'd forgotten Sniper was going to tell you how to use a sniper rifle. You got up from the bench, eyes flickering around the room. You looked at Spy for a second, who was watching you and Sniper leave the room with narrowed eyes. You grinned at him and mouthed a word that made him glare at you so intensely that if looks could kill, you'd have dropped on the floor.

Jealous?

You shrugged and left the room, laughing silently to yourself. He'd probably sneak up behind you later, knife in hand and threaten you, but that was definitely worth it.

'Ay Roo, this way.' Sniper took your arm and guided you in the right direction. You'd been so wrapped up in your thoughts that you weren't paying attention to your surroundings. You were following the sign that said 'INTELLIGENCE' instead of the one pointing in the opposite direction that read 'ROOF'.

'Sorry.' You mumbled as you and Sniper climbed the stairs. He said nothing in return, so you continued up to the roof in silence. Once you got there, you saw two sniper rifles on stands by the edge of the roof. On the ground some distance away were a few training dummies with badly painted targets on them.
