The old man had just finished dusting off some shelves in the kitchen cabinet when the doorbell rang, snapping him out of his reverie. He sighed and put down the piece of raggedy cloth that he was using.
Who could that be?
Couldn't be visitors. Noone came to the house since they all knew the owners had moved away.
Maybe a rental?
He wanted desperately to rent the place out.
Nice decent house like this sitting unoccupied and he could really use the money that he would get from having rented it out.
He entered the living room after exiting the kitchen and walked towards the front door.
He opened the door to a beautiful young lady standing before him. She was gorgeous and made him wish he was younger than his sixty years.
"Hi, can I help you?" He asked.
She smiled and extended her hand out for him to shake.
"I'm Cynthia Polo. It's nice to meet you, Mr....Brown?"
A voice as smooth as silk.
"Yes, I am he" he said and returned her handshake. "Please come on in"
She entered and he led her into the living room where he sat down on the couch nearest to the TV and she took the single chair that was facing him.
"So, Mrs....Polo? What brings you here to our humble litle domain? I can tell you're not from BurghersBridge. I've lived here for too long to not know everybody and a face like yours I simply couldn't forget"
She laughed lightly and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
She must be used to such compliments. A woman like her must have men throwing them at her feet daily.
"I'm not actually, I just moved here from Clarkesville and I'm staying at the motel across from the floral shop. That's where I got your number, from Amanda Green but I just thought to stop by first to see if you were here and get a look at the place too, from outside of course"
"Well it's your lucky day cause here I am. I'm here most times, cleaning and keeping the place in check"
"Oh, I can see that"
"So what can I help you with?"
She fiddled with her purse that sat neatly on her lap and crossed her legs, making her skirt hitch up a bit, exposing a little bit too much.
He couldn't help but make his eyes wonder.
God, she had such beautiful skin and slender legs.
What he would give right now to return back to his youthful days.
"Mhmm!" She cleared her throat and he returned his gaze to her face, embarrassment taking over as he realized she must have saw him taking her in.
"I'd like to rent this place" she said, looking him straight in his eyes.
"Great, I've been wanting to rent it out anyways. An old man like me can't keep this place up all by myself"
And he waved a hand around..
She raised a brow and smirked. "You're not old"
He was taken aback by the slight teasing he heard in her voice.
