Chapter One: Instructions.
You know that feeling you get when you're just lying in bed with the sheets over your head, terrified that someone will come into your room and suffocate you? Well, that's how I feel at the moment, although I am considering the thought that I might actually be dead. Because see, when I uncovered my face and looked around the room, it looked like a morgue. Five other bodies lay lifeless on other tables, covered up with white sheets like I am. I take a deep breath and uncover myself. 'At least I'm wearing a hospital gown,' I think as I stand up and walk over to the table closest to me. I slowly uncover it to see Monica lying there. She doesn't look dead and she's still breathing, so I gently shake her and started saying her name a little loudly over and over again until she finally opens her eyes and sits up looking as confused as I feel.
"Megan? Where are we?"
I shook my head. "I have no idea; the last thing I remember is falling asleep at that creepy house with Trent and Rhett," I said softly.
"That's all I remember too, except I fell asleep with Will," she said, trying to hide a smile, but her blushing gave it away. She covers her face with her hands, and that's when I notice the bracelet on her wrist. It looks like a regular hospital bracelet, only there's something else..
"What the crap is that?" I ask, grabbing her arm. We both stare at the symbol--a heart split in half and divided by a line.
Monica covers up her arm and gestures to my bracelet. "Let's see yours."
I hold it up and turn it so my own symbol is facing up. "A broken heart," I said. We both frown. "Well. We know what they mean, at least that's good. I guess..." I add.
"I don't know if anything's good right now. I mean, we're alive. And that's about it. But Will and Ryan and Rhett and Trent are missing and--"
"Yes, they're missing, and I'm starting to freak out. Things were finally going right, they can't just disappear!"
"They didn't. They're not missing. You're missing something. Look around."
We both turned to the other four bodies in the room and decided to walk to the closest one. I watched Monica uncover the body; we were both so nervous. The person under the cover ended up being Will, which made Monica feel better. But I, on the other hand, was panicking about Trent and Rhett, hoping they're alive.
Monica started shaking Will a little violently, yelling his name over and over again until he suddenly sat up making Monica and I jump, not expecting that sort of reaction from him.
"What the hell?" he yells, looking at both of us. "What is this? Why are we wearing hospital gowns and scratchy bracelets?" Will examines his bracelet and Monica does too, looking at his symbol. It's a scorpion.
"You were covered by a sheet," Monica said. "Both of us were, too."
"Soo, I'm guessing the other sheet-covered people are Rhett and Trent and Ryan?"
Me and Monica nod at the same time. "Oh man," Will says, pulling one of his many facial expressions. "Well. Everyone take a sheet."
Will counts to three and we all yank the sheet off our person. I got Trent. Surprisingly, it was Will who got Ryan and Monica who got Rhett. Everyone seems to know how to wake up their person except me. Will slaps Ryan hard across the face, getting a small gasp (followed by a giggle) from Monica. Ryan wakes up holding his face, swearing at Will. "You..asshole! What the fuck did I do to deserve that? Oh man, you're gonna fucking get it." They start arguing, and I look at Monica, who's busy poking Rhett's face. She jabs a finger into his cheek, and nothing happens. She just keeps on doing that though, and he eventually wakes up, annoyed. "Do you have any idea the good sleep you just ruined?"
