"Hello, how are you today?" Asked Professor Laurence as he disposed of his coat and put it on his desk. He was met by a chorus of "fine what about you". Laurence is an old man of sixty years yet he's still teaching, and this year he had the seniors. They adore him.
He smiled tiredly, he had spent all night working. "I'm fine. Today class, I have a huge question that not many will know how to answer: What is to live?" He was a Life Teacher, but he had never approached the subject so directly before. So when he was met by a deadly silence, he wasn't surprised.
"Wait sir! That's really easy! To live is to party all night and go out, meet girls and get drunk." Said Jake, the most outgoing person in the classroom.
"What? Of course not! Living is to study all day and be the most intelligent person." Huffed Layla the teacher's pet.
Laurence shook his head at them as the whole class started bickering. Actually not the whole class. In the far corner sat Micheal, the lonely sad soul of this school. He had the worse conditions at home, only the teachers knew that. He never engaged in the school's activities or spoke up without being spoken to.
"What do you think Mikey?" Asked Laurence as he leaned on his desk, as all eyes turned to the lone wolf at the back. Micheal raised his black eyes to his teacher and answered calmly:
"To live is to be happy. But not all of us has the chance to." He had stunned them all into silence and smiled. It was the first time they had seen him smile, but it wasn't a happy one, it was a sad one.
TO LIVE IS TO BE HAPPY! SO BE HAPPY AND MAKE THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU HAPPY.
