'Exactly.'

You felt as if you were punched in the chest. Thoughts swarming your mind in circles, it was bizzare really.

"Soul of a dragon? How- How do I have a soul of a dragon? How is this even possible?" You asked.

'You had met Midnight as a young child, yes?' Aro asked.

You nodded.

'Without ever realizing as a young child, you had bonded with a dragon, not any, but us Night Furies. We are not like other dragons out there in the world. In order to have a soul of a dragon, you have to be born to realize this. It could take years to realize this. As a young child, you discovered this without realizing as you bonded with Midnight. As for your mate, it took him years because he never got the chance until he met Toothless.' He explained.

"What I don't understand is when I put the necklace on, I was able to understand Midnight but when Hiccup tried, he couldn't understand. Why is that?" You asked, looking down at the gem.

'Since you wore it first, it let you understand. The necklace was made for one particular person, but if it fell into the stream, whoever was near would understand if they had a soul of a dragon. I'm assuming you dropped it in the steam in the cave, correct?' He asked.

"I did." You answered.

'And did this cause a white blinding light?' He asked, as you nodded. 'Did you fall with it or dropped it?'

"I fell with it, with Hiccup diving after me." You replied.

'Then that would've caused you to feel vibrations and tingling sensations; which means that it gave you and your mate the ability to understand us.' Aro explained.

"How would the blinding light occur?" You asked.

'Inside the cave, the stream glows a blueish color. It glows because in order for others who have a soul of a dragon, it would initiate their ability to understand us. Since he fell with you in the water, it made him understand us.'

"Okay, that makes sense." You nodded. "If you don't mind me asking, why are you all hiding? Why aren't you out there with the other dragons?" You asked, referring to the outside world.

'As I said before, we are not like the other dragons in the world. Many, many years ago, we were out there, only shifting to different islands to mate and whatnot. When humans and dragons were going at war, we would join in also, which caused our population to lower so we stayed hidden. Over the years, our number has dropped drastically. There used to be thousands- millions of us scattered around the world, but as the years went by, we started to disapper. Now we stay completely hidden, because if he finds us he'll create an army.'

"An army?" You questioned.

"What army?" Hiccup asked.

'A dragon army. They've been looking for us for years, but once you leave this island, you must promise us all that you will not speak, nor share anything about us. If you do we'll be in great danger.' Aro leaned down to your level, his blue eyes boring into yours. 'Do you promise?'

You seemed to stop breathing, feeling multiple eyes staring at you. You gazed into Aro's eyes, knowing that he was asking for a favor. "I promise."

'Then that settles it. You, your mate, Toothles, and Midnight are allowed to leave.' Aro nodded as he pulled back into his orginal position.

You gave a nod as you walked back, Hiccup quickly reaching out for you, bringing you into his arms, breathing in a sigh of relief.

'Where is the exit?' Toothless asked.

'Just walk forward, you'll get there.' Aro informed.

As you pulled away from Hiccup, you glanced around, seeing all the Night Furies looking at you four. Some had blue eyes, green, violet, etc.

"Thank you." You nodded towards Aro, as he returned the nod.

You all kept silent as you walked, taking a few turns as Toothless led the way. When you finally made it outside, the sun was already below the horizon, leaving a faint yellow-orange glow in the distance as the night sky began to replace it.

"Lets go home." You stated, mounting Midnight as Hiccup did Toothless before flying off.
