For generations, Hogwarts students have been divided into four houses. As you sit beneath the sorting hat, you become the first student chosen for a mysterious fifth house.
Ahhhh I'm so excited to finally be at Hogwarts! As an adopted child, I have no idea whether my parents were of magical blood or not or which of the four houses I would fit into. Finally, it is my turn to sit on the stool under the famous hat. I sit and get comfortable, waiting for whatever is supposed to happen. Hmmm I haven't ever sorted one of your kind, the hat whispers into my mind. Very interesting, yes, I do believe that would be the best fit for someone like you, it muses. Aloud, it shouts "I sort you into the House of TODD!" What?! I look up and notice that a fifth, much smaller, table has materialized in between the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw tables. Glancing up at Dumbledore, he motions me to go ahead and sit down. I eat my meal in shock, all the announcements going in one ear and out the other, trying hard to ignore all the stares.
After dinner, I practically sprint to Dumbledore's office, demanding an explanation. He beckons me in and offers me candy before beginning his explanation. "Based on what the hat has told me, you are a very rare kind of witch, the first of your kind in 513 years. You are of a type of magical being with the ability to manipulate magic without the use of a medium such as a wand, we call them benders. They come from a common ancestor who is believed to be the creator of all magical creatures and therefore have a bit of every magical creature within you. Because of this, you do not fit in a single one house, you fit in them all.
I'm sure you know of the four founders, but there was a fifth one, Todd, who was a bender as well. Todd knew that there would come a time when a bender would arrive at Hogwarts and he knew that if he or she was sorted into one of the four houses, they would fell as if they didn't belong for their entire time at Hogwarts so he wanted to make sure they had a place to go. Thus, the house of Todd was born."
I was left speechless, my mouth hanging wide open. "You will have friends spanning all the other houses so do not worry about becoming lonely," he assured me. After telling me where my dorms were, he sent me off to bed. Like I could sleep after hearing that! Oh boy, I thought to myself, this is gonna be a long seven years.
