I made a mistake.
Do you know what I did?
I looked back at the photograph I'd so carefully hid.

I don't know what came over me, I guess I was just lost,
In the nostalgia and the thoughts that you had caused.

I saw our fingers intertwined,
I saw the light inside our smiles.

Your shoulder was slung around me tight,
And I was looking into your eyes.

We were perfect once upon a time,
I miss the days when I'd called you mine.

You always loved to take pictures of me,
You'd make me smile then snap suddenly.

I wouldn't be ready, you'd capture mid-speech,
But that's what made them so beautifully unique.

You were so talented with that camera in hand,
Speaking that technical language I'd never understand.

I remember that one night, we were gazing at the sky,
You took out your camera, but I put it aside.

You gave me a look as if to ask why,
"Why capture the moments when you can live them?" said I.

That was one night I'd always remember,
You and I, we could've been forever.

What came after was something I never thought would be,
I never thought you'd stop loving me.

That was the last of your camera and your smile,
Your hoodie, your laugh, those beautiful times.

I miss you, my love, I'll miss you forever,
I'll miss those photographs and our memories together.

I wish I'd never taken out that old photograph,
Where I was giddy in your arms, captured mid-laugh.

Alas, my love, we weren't meant to be,
Your camera was your first priority.

I don't know who you are or whether you still remember me,
But I'm still in love with your memory.

You loved those candids, and I did too,
So I named this book after you.

Dear Readers,
I cannot even begin to tell you just how much I love you all.
You mean EVERYTHING to me.

Thank you for putting up with my extreme mood swings- going from melodramatic sob-fest to anger/rant poems to the absolute nonsense I write when I'm out of ideas :////

Thank you so much for putting up with my notification bursts (I probably drive you guys mad I'm so sorry o_O)

Thank you for reading, voting and commenting on my work, it's really the only thing that keeps me going.

Thank you for all your inputs, ideas and suggestions for making this book what it is today.

If you liked this book it'd be great if you could check out the first poetry book of this collection- Better Left Unsaid, and the second- Whisper of Silence❤❤

Speaking of other poetry books, the good news is, Olivia's not done yet!! I've recently started  another poetry book called Reflection, where I've only been writing palindrome poetry.
If you don't know what that is, you should really check it out because palindrome poetry is something I've recently been OBSESSED with, it's so much fun!

Candid might've been a book started out of one failed relationship, but I'm surprised at the number of things I have gained from this; new friends, new memories and whole lot of positivity and laughter in my life. Thank you for making me stare at my phone and smile like an idiot. I love you all so much❤

Anyway, before I start full-fledged ranting, I'd just like to say, it's been one hell of a journey writing this book and I have enjoyed every minute of it because of you readers. Thank you for making this such an amazing experience. Do keep in touch!

Olivia ❤
