Harry and I slept through the night. I was so glad I had finally found someone who cared enough to listen to me. I was so lucky to have run into him last night. I probably would have been dead on the streets by next morning.
I snuggled closer to him, hugging his chest tighter. Despite the fact that we were on the ground, that was probably the best sleep I had ever had in my life. I felt so safe and calm, I didn't want to wake up. But I was already awake. And by the looks of it, Harry was too.
Squirming into a more comfortable position, Harry blinked and cleared his throat. He looked at me and grinned.
"Morning, princess." Then his grin faded into a look of respect and- something else I couldn't recognize.
"Sheena," he corrected himself, putting on his hat and climbing to his feet. As much as I hated to face another day, I stood, too.
"Morning, Harry," I mumbled.
He laughed. "Not much of a morning person, are ya?"
"Are you kidding me? That's how all of this started!" I laughed. Then my expression turned grim. "I'm actually never going to see them again, am I?"
"My friends. Or, at least, the people who used to be my friends."
Harry sighed. "I don't know, Sheena. I don't know what's gonna happen now." Then, straightening up, he added, "Well, one thing's for sure. Neither of us are going anywhere until we can shower."
"Shower? In this place?" I laughed.
He nodded. "Yup. They have showers here. Not very good ones, but they'll work."
I was aching for a shower badly. My hair was so filthy, it felt like cardboard. Plus I had been in my pajamas last night, yesterday, and the day before. I doubted I would be able to change, but if I could just shower, I would feel so much better.
I grinned. "Can I go first?"
"Of course. I don't think you can go any longer in those clothes."
Making our way over to the showers, I opened the curtain and stepped inside. Pulling the curtain closed, I asked Harry to stand guard. Once he agreed, I stripped off my filthy Auradon Prep pajamas.
It felt so good to be under the stream of water. Despite the fact that it was ice cold, it was actually pretty clean. I must have stayed in there for an hour, scrubbing every bit of filth off of my skin. Once I was done, I stepped out, and since there wasn't any towels, I had to stand there for about fifteen minutes waiting to dry off. Finally, I was able to pull those stupid pajamas on again, which didn't feel all that pleasant, but I was all I had to wear. Plus, at least I was clean. I pulled the curtain open and stepped out.
"Harry!" I called out. "You can use the shower now!" No answer. "Harry?"
Suddenly, I heard footsteps coming up behind me. I turned around and saw Harry running up to me, looking terrified.
"Sheena, you've got to get of here and hide! It's Uma! She'll capture you when she sees you, and kill me for hiding you! You have to run! Now!"
"I said you have to go! Please! You have no idea what that girl can do when she gets angry!"
"But I can't leave you-"
I was cut off by a flash of movement in front of me. Someone punched Harry in the face, and he crumpled to the ground. Turning around, I saw Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos standing behind me. Jay was the one who had punched Harry. He grabbed me and started to drag me away from Harry.
"What are you doing?" I screamed. "Get your hands off me!"
"Getting you out of here! Uma's coming this way, and Harry's gonna hand you over to her!"
"No, he's not! Let go!"
"Sheena, are you an idiot? He kidnapped you!"
"No, he didn't! He saved me! I've got to get him away before Uma finds out!"
With that, I kicked Jay right in between the legs. He howled and let go. I shoved him away from me, running over to Harry, who was barely conscious.
"Harry, come on! We've got to get away from Uma! Harry-"
Suddenly, a hand slapped roughly around my mouth. I tried to scream, but it was muffled by the hand. I was shoved to the ground, and my head banged against the concrete floor of Ursula's Fish and Chips. I began to feel dizzy, and my vision became blurred.
"Awwww, Harry," said a girl's voice. "Isn't this sad? You save your precious little princess's life, take care of her, and then she calls her friends to come beat you up? Pathetic!"
Looking up, I focused on a tall, beautiful, yet evil looking girl with long teal hair and dark skin. Pirates surrounded her, guarding me to to make sure I didn't run away. The girl was kicking Harry cruelly. I looked around for the VKs, and saw that they had run off like the cowards they were. Typical. They had left Harry and I to suffer. Some friends they were.
"Uma- stop," Harry groaned weakly as he got to his feet. I sighed with relief when I saw he was ok. I tried to stand and run up to him, but Uma shoved me back.
"Nice try, Sheena," she spat, saying my name as if it were some sort of virus. "But I'm not letting you go since you and your little friends attacked Harry. Nice try, but did you actually think me and my crew could be defeated?"
"That wasn't my fault!" I yelled at Uma. Looking up at Harry, I reached out to him. "Harry, please believe me! I would never betray you like that! This isn't my fault, I had no idea Jay was gonna attack you!"
"Like you're gonna believe her, Harry?" demanded Uma. "You're kidding, right? This girl is a traitor! But, I mean, what would you expect? She's from Auardon. I can't believe you would trust her."
He looked at me in confusion, trying to process what was going on. Then, his eyes narrowed, and he glared at me. I could tell he thought I had tricked him, pretending to want to stay with him so that my friends could find him and attack him. I could clearly see the hurt in his eyes as he looked at me disbelievingly.
"I trusted you," he said, his voice nearly a whisper. "I rescued you, shared all my secrets, listened to you- and it was all just a plan to attack me and stop Uma? I can't believe I trusted you!"
"Harry, I didn't know they were here!" I pleaded. "I had nothing to do with this! Don't listen to Uma! I thought we were safe!"
Harry smirked, but all the warmth had gone out of his face. "One thing's for sure, darlin'," he said, his voice sarcastic and cruel once again. "Yer not gonna be safe where you're going."
He looked at Uma, smirked, and walked away, out of my view. Tears streamed down my face. Why didn't he believe me? Why did my "friends" have to show up when they did? We could have escaped together, far away from Uma and the pirates. But then, Mal and the VKs showed up, stopping Harry and I from getting away- and ending any chance of love between us. Why? Why did they have to do that? Harry will never believe me again. He hates me now! But I- I loved him.
Uma shoved me to the ground again suddenly, and I fell. This time, my vision began to turn black around the edges. My head had been seriously hurt, I could tell. I gasped for air as tears continued to run down my face. The last thing I saw was Harry's face staring at me, angry, hurt, and upset. Then I crumpled to the ground, and my world went black.
