I rushed into my next class, biology, and sat down at my desk, my heart still beating wildly. I can't believe I got caught eavesdropping on them!
I took out my binder, which was covered in stickers and doodles of sharpie markers from my and Marsha goofing off.
"Good afternoon, class." Our teacher, Ms. Beslfers, greeted us.
We all echoed good morning back to her. I liked Ms. Beslfers, she was my favorite teacher; she had taken me under her wing, so to speak. She always gave me extra help on assignments, because I was horrible at science and pretty much hated it. I was an English and history person, not a science and math person.
Which is odd, since my entire family are the exact opposites.
She handed out our worksheets, and the first sheet was our new seating arrangements. I found my name at the back of the class, right next to Travis Duncan! I smiled. This should be interesting.
We all go up, and switched around. When I sat down next to Travis, he smiled smugly at me.
"Well well well...." He smirked. "Looks like you finally got your wish, eh sweetheart?" I gawked at him. Was he serious?
"I'm sorry, what?" I gasped.
"Oh come on hun, you know you've been eyeing me for some time now; hey, don't be embarrassed! Truth is I've had my eye on you for awhile now too." He winked at me.
God I just wanted to punch him!! I had only ever seen him across the halls and classrooms, I had never talked to him.
I wasn't going to lie, he was handsome. I'd even had a dream with him in it. Not like a romantic one, just one of those dreams where random people pop up throughout the dream.
Like I said, I've never talked to him. Apparently he's a total arrogant jerk face!
I decided to play along for a minute, just for fun.
"Hmm," I said, leaning a bit closer to him. His eyes got wider. "You're right about that, handsome. I have had my eye on you."
He grinned. He was about to say something, but I cut him off.
"But I'm afraid I have some bad news: I'm engaged to a foreign prince who had billions of dollars, and he has me under constant supervision, so I'm afraid it's impossible." I put on a sappy, sad puppy dog face at him.
"Aw, that's ok," he said. "I could always sneak up to your room tonight, would that work?"
Inwardly I screamed. What a jerk!
"No, I'm afraid not hun," I said sweetly. "You see, the truth is, there is no foreign prince; you're just an arrogant butthead and I have no interest in going out with you." I stuck my tongue out at him.
He looked shocked, and I couldn't help but laugh at his expression.
"Wait," I said giggling. "You actually thought I was serious? Wow..." I said continuing to giggle.
"Well fine then...." He scoffed.
I turned to look at him. He looked kinda genuinely hurt. I almost felt bad for him. I sighed.
"Alright listen," his head snapped around, probably hoping that I was going to change my mind.
"Listen, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I meant what I said, you are handsome. But honestly, you're just not my type; I'm fine with us being friends, just as long as you don't try anything boneheaded!" He smiled.
"Well," he said. "I guess if I can't have you, I can at least have you as a friend and get to talk to you."
"Sounds good." I said.
