[Y/N]
-------
I was sitting on my couch, reading and drinking some hot chocolate.
My quiet and concentration was quickly interrupted as I heard my front door being banged on. I put my chocolate aside and closed my book. I got up and opened the door, not bothering to even look and see who it was.
"Excuse me but you'll have to come with us." A man with a dark suit said, as soon as I opened the door.
I looked behind him to see three men with similar attires, holding guns that were pointed at me. As well as two black cars parked outside, in front of my house. I looked back at the man, unfazed.
"Alright, let me just put on my shoes then." I responded.
I left the door open so that they wouldn't freak out and assume that I was trying to leave. I grabbed my shoes that were right next to the wall and quickly put them on. I grabbed my keys and walked out, locking the door.
I followed the man towards the cars, the other three men followed behind me to make sure I wouldn't do anything. We got inside the car and started driving off. I didn't bother to question where we were going because I honestly didn't care to know.
-
Eventually we stopped and arrived at a tall building. We got out of the car and walked towards the doors, and they scanned a few cards before going in. We went up an elevator and arrived in a room. Where I saw three other men standing there.
Two of them I recognized. Akutagawa, the one who attacked me, sitting down, and the other one, who had a bandage over his eye and one on his cheek. The third man was unknown to me. He was older and looked like the boss. The men behind me poked my back with the tips of their guns until we were close to them.
They all looked at me in amusement. I looked back at them, a little bit confused.
"Hello." The boss greeted. I nodded in response.
"What's your name?" The other guy in bandages asked.
"[Y/N]." I answered.
"Nice to meet you, [Y/N]. I'm Dazai and this is my boss Mori. What's is your ability?" He smiled
"Abundant Hearts."
"What did you do to my subordinate?" He asked, poking at his subordinate, Akutagawa, who looked sad.
"Altered his emotions." I said, looking at Akutagawa. The way he looked at me told me something was off about him. His emotions weren't the same as when I last saw him.
"Can you please.. fix him?" He asked, looking back at me.
I walked over to Akutagawa and grabbed his face and forced him to look up at me. I looked at my hand and his emotions were in fact different. He felt a lot more depressed and lonely, he felt very guilty. I furrowed my eyebrows, this has never happened before. I continued looking at my hand, trying to figure out if I did something wrong.
"What the hell did you do?" I whispered. I look back at them for a second, glaring.
"Restore all." I sighed, turning away from Akutagawa.
I walked back to where I was before and waited for his emotions to return back to normal. Dazai and Mori watched him in amusement as his irises turned different colors, showing the change in his emotions. Akutagawa puts his hand to his chest and glares at me. He gets up and starts storming towards me, but Dazai pushes him back.
"No. Don't." Dazai says.
Akutagawa slowly sits back down and continues glaring at me. They all look at me for a few moments, studying me.
"Mori, I think we should-" Dazai turned to him but Mori cut him off.
"[Y/N], how would you like to work here? Be in the interrogation department?" Mori asked, walking closer to me.
I looked up at the tall man and tilted my head.
"Why?" I asked, not really caring.
"Because your abilities would be such an asset to us. We could really use someone right now in the interrogation department. Unfortunately, our best executive here is always busy with other missions and it holds us back from getting the information we need." He explains.
"Ah, that's great and all," I say with a monotone voice, "but I have no interest in doing that. Or anything at all, really."
"Well, you don't have a choice." Akutagawa spat. "You'll die if you think you can walk out of here saying no."
"Great." I responded, looking at him straight in the eye.
"We can't kill her." Dazai smiled, creeping over Mori's shoulder.
"I know." Mori sighs. "Listen, if you have no interest in doing anything, then that means you have no interest in whether it benefits you or anyone else, whether it makes you happy or not. So there isn't a reason you shouldn't join." He smiles.
"Alright." I say, staring at him.
He did make a point. I wasn't going to sit here and argue with him about not having interest. If I had to then so be it. It's not like it mattered anyways.
"Okay... well then, we'll meet again. Monday, 8 o'clock." He smiles.
I nod and turn around. The guards move out of my way and follow me into the elevator. As I turned around Dazai kept staring at me. I looked away from him as I was tired. I yawned when the doors closed.
Maybe I'll make use of myself.
