In just a few days, her book is in stores.
It's an instant success.
"I didn't expect people to actually like it!" Autumn laughs one day when Adrian tells her someone in her class was reading it and asking what else Audrey Prickland had written.
"I know! I thought this would be just an 'I'm a professional author because my book was published even though no one has heard of it' type of book, not the next Harry Potter!" he laughs.
"Yeah," she rolls her eyes. "One of those 'I'm a professional author because my book was published even though no one has heard of it' books." She snickers.
When Autumn gets to her house, she finds hundreds of emails in her inbox, asking for dates of book signings and requesting author visits.
She wrinkles her eyebrows, almost laughing. She forwards one to Adrian. "Put my email on it, did you?" she writes.
He answers in less than a minute. "Hahahaha yes because yours had A.P. in the name, which is our author's supposed initials."
She nods approvingly at her computer and replies. "Makes sense I guess. Are we gonna go to any of these?"
"We? No, no. YOU. YOU ARE THE AUTHOR!!"
"Haha well I'm not really a public speaker,"
"Up to u"
She doesn't respond. She reads a few of her emails, mostly about author visits, book signings and interviews, and eventually marks most of them as read to make the notification go away.
She falls asleep asking herself what to do.
Reveal her face to the world she liked to hide it from?
Keep her face a mystery?
Make thousands happy, but herself nervous?
Would it pull her out of her shell?
She falls asleep before she comes to an answer.
