❝wow, she is not your faceclaim.❞
People who comment on your stories that only complain about your choice of face claim are really really annoying.
It comes in all shapes and sizes.
Example No. 1 |
The Imagination Nation
"Wow, you're using Clarke? HA, hell no. I'm going to imagine her as someone else."
1] Who the hell is Clarke? Oh, a fictional character that she plays?
2] Well, she's the faceclaim,
so fuck off. Thanks.
Example No. 2 |
The Ugly Barnacle
"Ew, wtf, really?
Why did you use her."
"Change the faceclaim,
she's not pretty!"
Yes, I've had people comment this before. Many different people about (1) character in particular, way back in 2011.
Who is that character?
Olive Smith (Kaya Scodelario)
^^uh, tell me how she's ugly, you cretins?!
Example No. 3 |
The worst of all? The I'm right and you're wrong people.
People who comment on your casting choice and say "they look nothing like [author's character name]. You should really change your casting choice."
No, fuck off. I chose that person because I, the writer, feel that they best represent the mental image of my character. What, you think you know my own character better than me?
I get that readers will envision a character to look certain ways, probably different than the author's imagining of their own character. HOWEVER, that doesn't give you the right to blatantly shit on the author's choice.
I don't care what you consider my characters to look like. You can think of them any way you want, and that's fine. But, don't shit on my choice. That pisses me off. If I chose a certain celebrity based on their looks, usually it's for a reason.
