My name is Lamont Baudelaire and I'm from a little town outside of Dallas, TX. I keep myself busy with work and school so I really don't have too many friends, the ones that I do have are my life. Family isn't really a thing to me; my dad died when I was 17 and haven't been in contact with my mother since I was a child. I inherited a business from my dad so money wasn't a huge issue, it's an auto body shop though so it's nothing fancy; it's not like I'm driving Bentley's to Kroger.
There's only one day before I leave Texas and move all the way to Atlanta for school to finish my degree. I started at a junior college so I wasn't wasting money but I'm now ready to hit up "dorm" life. I'm lowkey in my feelings but I don't have time to be scared. Being the procrastinator that I am, I still haven't finished packing up my car for the long ass drive I have ahead of me. I still can't believe I thought driving twelve hours by myself would be a good idea. I could've easily gotten a storage pod and had my things shipped; But noooo, I wanted to be artsy with a road trip and shit. Laaaawd.
-Phone Rings- It's my best friend Charlie
"Hey boo!" "Nigga, why the hell didn't you stay here and help me pack all this shit?" "Oh chile, the doll doesn't dirty a nail, you should've hired someone" -Sarcastic Laugh "Anyhoe, What's up girl? How is your training for your new job?" "bitch I hate it, why this little Caucasian hoe tried me like I was some type of Keri Hilson in these streets? She almost lost her life!" -Sighs "Girl you are too much for me, I can't! Oh but girl I gotta go, my housekeeper is here" "Ughhhh okay call me back!" "Okay!" I ain't calling that girl back and she knows it!
I was getting my place cleaned since I subleased it for the time I'll be away. You know, a smart nigga always keeps multiple sources of income. The cleaners worked around me as I finished packing everything into the car. By the time I was done, the cleaning was finished and it was time for me to leave my place and check into the hotel, so I drove down by popeyes to get me a $5 box. Once I got checked in at the hotel, I ate my food and scrolled through my IG to see what was going on the world. It was nothing new, same kids from my town being basic. After I got bored with that I turned on the Formation album on my phone and got in the shower. That shower felt so good that I was in there for almost an hour.
After my shower I did my nightly routine and started to think about tomorrow, the day I would leave my beloved little Texas town behind and start my new chapter. Life hasn't been all peaches and creme thus far, but I just hope I'm making the right decision to move 1,000 away from everything I've come to know and love. Momma ain't raise no bitch though, so I know I got this. I finished up in the bathroom and laid down, trying not to think too much as I drifted off to sleep.
