Over the next several days leading into the following week, I had started to spend any time I had alone training. I now had not only my original three supers, but as well as the Stormcaller, Sunbreaker, and Sunsinger. I figured that self resurrection would be helpful in the field, although I still hadn't unlocked the potential to do that just yet. I'd also started to design a new weapon. It'd be a sword and shield combo, or sword and board if you will. On top of that I received the Paladin from Atlas, an alright piece of equipment. I started to inspect it and make any armor alterations but have yet to actually pilot it. Also, over that time I had noticed Jaune hanging around Cardin more. This could either mean they were starting to get along or Cardin had a hold of Jaune. I was hoping for the first but knew deep down it was the second.
Things seemed routine; classes, classwork, training, relax, and eating. That is until one of our teachers said we'd be going on a field trip to Forever Fall, a beautiful forest with a shower of red petals. We were sent in to retrieve some sap from the trees to study.
The team and I broke apart from the main group, Noah and I found it easier to stay focused without having Blake and Yang near by.
Noah was running the tap, I held the jar, Nagisa was on Grimm watch, and Vlad was our pack-mule since he couldn't strain his muscles. We had tapped the trees and got two jars of sap when Nagisa started a conversation.
“So Noah, what did you and Yang do last night on your date?”
Noah started to fill the third jar I was holding and replied. “We went out and got pizza, then walked up along the water and chatted. On the walk I noticed she was looking at a biker jacket, so I grabbed it for her.”
“So that's where that came from,” I commented as I watched the sap start flowing.
“Yeah, gotta admit, it looks great on her. Never thought orange would fit, but it brings out her eye colour.”
I nodded and tapped his hand to stop the sap from flowing. He did and we started to fill the last jar.
“What about you Felix?” Noah started as he let the sap flow. “Didn’t you and Blake hang out the other night?”
“Yeah, we went out to a movie and dinner. Then came back to our (as in team Guardian) dorm and watched something. Then fell asleep in each other's arms.”
“That why you two were almost late to class the next day?”
“I don't know what you're talking about,” I replied with a smirk. They all laughed and we finished gathering the sap.
“Well, now that we're done with that, wanna climb a tree and watch over the people?” Noah asked cheerfully.
I shrugged and looked at him “ain't got anything better to do. Just make sure the sap is secure in your backpacks.”
They all nodded and we started to climb the trees. We each picked a different one. Mine was the thickest, so I lied down, took a rifle scope, and watched everyone. I was directly over team Cardinal and Jaune, they were next to a ridge looking at Ren, Nora, and Pyrrha. I was listening in on their conversation, and I heard Cardin say that since he couldn't see me, Pyrrha was his target. He wanted Jaune to throw a jar of sap at her, then Cardin would release a box of Rapier Wasps which would be attracted to the sap. Jaune looked out at Pyrrha, whose back was turned to him. He wound up and looked like he was going to throw it.
“Don't do it dude,” I whispered to myself.
Jaune’s hand started to shake, and he looked as if he was going to throw it.
But didn't.
Jaune lowered the sap and uttered one word, “no.”
“What did you say?” Cardin asked. Now, I'm gonna stop here. Nine times out of ten, when someone says that. They heard you the first time, they just want to see if you're dumb enough to say it again. Anywho, back to what was happening.
