I heard a knock on the door and I quickly ran down the steps.
"Wow, dude," Richy called. "Desperate much?"
"Shut up," I said back.
I opened the door and there she was. Standing with the sun surrounding her head in a halo of light. She looked even better than she normally did.
"Hey," she greeted.
"Come on in," I said.
I shut the door behind her.
"That idiot's Richy," I said. "Don't listen to a thing that he says."
"I'm his better half," he said. I shook my head, smiling.
"More like my worse," I said.
"So who all is going to be going to the party?" she asked.
"Everyone," Richy said. "Well, not everyone, but mostly populars."
"Oh joy," Riannan said sarcastically.
"It'll be fine," Richy said. "If anyone tries to mess with you, then I'll defend you."
"And whose gonna defend you?" I asked.
"Shut up," Richy said.
"We should probably be heading out soon. The party starts in an hour and a half," I said. "Riannan, do you want to ride with me or Richy?"
She looked between the two of us.
"You," she said.
"Gee, thanks," Richy said.
"I just met you," Riannan defended.
"True," Richy said.
"Come on, the garage is this way," I said.
I walked through the house to where the cars sat. I slid into my Audi, and she got into the passenger's seat.
"I love your car," she said.
The engine revved and I pulled out of the driveway.
"Are you nervous?" I asked, looking at her.
"Yeah," she said.
"Well, I've been a loner for my entire life other than with Kyle and Rusty, and now all of a sudden I'm heading off to a party with the 'populars' with the head honcho driving me there," she said.
"Whose Rusty? And 'head honcho'?" I asked.
"Rusty is my boss, but kind of like my uncle too," she said. "And yeah, you're considerd the 'head honcho'."
"News to me," I said.
"Oh please, the most popular guy is always the captain of whatever sport team and is the hottest guy in school," she said. I grinned.
"You realize that you just called me the hottest guy in school, right?"
"You realize that you just acted as if you didn't know, right?"
I shrugged before I turned to smile at her.
"So if I'm the hottest guy in the school, then why are you nervous?"
"You already answered your own question."
"Wait, so you're nervous about being with me?" I asked.
"No," she said. "I was wrong about you. But everyone else... I don't know."
"Wait, what do you mean 'I was wrong about you'?" I asked.
