Samantha, Jeremiah, and I were walking down the hot pavement of Sunview Park. The summer heat was radiating down on us in the deadly period of August. You know, the time when the summer heat was so unbearable that the heat would have made anyone want to throw up. The painfully hot rays of the sun were beaming through the bright green leaves of the trees. School would start back up soon, so we had decided to use the rest of our summer to hang out and have fun.

"Guys, I swear it is 1000 degrees out here," Samantha whined as she checked her phone for the weather.

"Actually Samantha, it is only 104 degrees for your information." I retorted, dragging out the last word to annoy her. I chuckled at my silliness.

"Meh, me-me meh meh meh. Smart Alec." Samantha stuck her tongue out at me and put two of her fingers up to her head to form an 'L' shape.

"Quit mocking me!" I complained playfully, hitting her in the arm. I also gave her the stink eye.

"Girls, Girls, cool it! No need for a cat fight" Jeremiah responded to our bickering sarcastically. He smiled slyly, the smile lines of his eyes creasing.

We sat down on the bench nearby and started laughing. "God, what would I do without you two?" I sighed and looked up to the bright blue sky, thinking. I actually have no clue what I would do without the two. They had always been there for me, through the darkness and the light. We always had been there for each other, especially Jeremiah. Jeremiah finally spoke up, releasing me from my thoughts.

"You... would probably crawl into a hole and eat ice cream while balling your eyes out to the Fault In Our Stars. You would never see the light of day ever again." He smirked and ran his fingers through his curls. He started to laugh that laugh I'd always loved to hear escape his lips.

"Hey, Jeremiah!" I said in a high pitched voice. I punched him in the shoulder, but he continued laughing. My friends were big bullies. Lovable bullies to say the least. I continued to linger on the thought of not having them in my life. I sighed as I thought of how bad I have the crazy girl fever for Jeremiah. I'm not even gonna deny it.

"Ada!? You still with us?" Sam shook one of her hands in front of my face in an attempt to gain my attention. I tried to answer quickly without making a fool out of myself. Which I failed to do. Miserably.

"Uhh, umm, yeah, I'm still here, why wouldn't I be." I rolled my eyes subtly. Samantha then gave me a suspicious look and raised her right brow into a perfect arch shape.

"Stop giving me that look, Samantha!" I whined, pouting my lips. I crossed my arms across my chest, glaring in her direction.

"What look?" She said slowly, snickering like there is no tomorrow, and acting all innocent. She wiggled her eyebrows.

"That look!" I exclaimed, my pitch raising an octave higher. I looked away from her.

"Okay, I'll stop now." She sighed in disappointment before glancing down on her phone. She always liked to mess around with my emotions and feelings, especially when I was flustered.

I looked around because I realized that Jeremiah was nowhere to be seen. I called for his name in hopes to find him. "Jeremiah!?" I was about to pull out my phone to text him when I was jumped from behind.

"Boo!" Samantha and I both jumped, and my heart started racing as I grabbed my chest.

"Oh my God, Jeremiah. You almost gave Ada and me a heart attack!" she hissed, frowning. I was still latching onto my chest and Samantha loosened up.
