Requested: 'I just wanted one normal day with my boyfriend, is that too much to ask?!'
"Alex, look at the cardinals!" John squealed excitedly as the two boys walked through the park. Snowflakes gracefully fell onto John Laurens's nose, making him smile and giggle. Two cardinals, a red and a red-brown, flew from tree-to-tree, as if they were playing tag. John looked up at Alexander, who was just on his phone. John hated the dumb electronics that Alex always took on their dates.
"Alex?" John asked. Alex glanced up from his phone and kissed John's cheek. "No, Alex, that's not what... okay..." John sighed and took his hand. The small, freckled man watched two of his friends, Eliza and Maria, making snow-angels. He two girls saw the two boys and waved. John waved back, but Alexander kept his eyes glued to his phone. With a sigh, John led Alex into a coffee shop that was by the park.
"Wow, it smells so good in here!" I hummed, trying to get Alex's attention. He looked up at the menu and nodded. "Yeah." He hummed and got in line, leading me to it. I sighed and looked around for a table. "Hey, I'll find a table, okay?" I asked. Alex nodded. "What do you want?" He asked, still on his phone. "Get me a hot chocolate..." I told him and walked away. I got us a booth in the corner. Alexander walked over with our drinks.
I smiled to Alex as he gave me his drink. "Thanks!" I fake-giggled as he sat down. He just grunted and pulled out his laptop. On our date.
I stared at him in disbelief as he began typing out some essay. I dug my nails into my palms and watched him work. "So-" "John, What do you think about Mr. Reynolds? He seems sketchy... he watched you intently while you walked to your Art II class..." Alex pointed out. By now, I was fuming.
"How about we go home." I muttered. "Yeah, I can work-" "No, you can't." I spat and took his hand as he stuffed his laptop into his bag. I dragged him out of the coffee shop and to our apartment.
As we got home, I calmly shut the door and glared at him. "What. The. Hell, Alex?" I hissed. That made Alex look up at me. "What-?" "I just wanted one normal day with my boyfriend, is that too much to ask?! Really, first it was your phone, the the laptop?! Maybe you should date your work instead of me!" I spat. Alex gave me a hurt look. "John, it's not-" "Whatever, Hamilton." I scoffed and rolled my eyes as I spoke, "You can sleep on the couch."
"John, not the couch. Anything but the couch, I beg you." Alex whined. "Too bad!" I screamed at slammed our bedroom door. I heard Alex sigh and, most likely, flop on the couch. I guessed he was pouting. "Peaches, I'm sorry!" I heard Alex groan. I just rolled my eyes and walked to our closet to change into pajamas. I threw on a random Pride shirt and black sweatpants. "Peaches, I saw a rat under the couch before! At least let me change! Or let me help you..." Alex begged. I sat on the bed and pulled my knees to my chest as I glared at the door. "I'm already changed. You can sleep in your clothes, I'm still mad at you!" I muttered. "Baby!" Alex gasped defensively. I sighed and snuggled under the covers. "Goodnight." I called from our bedroom. I expected typing, but I heard nothing. I sighed, rolled over and fell asleep.
