Chapter Six

"Look! Look! We've finally arrived to Halo! It hasn't changed a bit from what I last saw of it," Taurus stepped in front of the entrance to Halo and opened his arms wide, gesturing to everything like he owned the place. Some of the citizens looked at him strangely, I grabbed his arm and headed into the town.

I was greeted with a bustling market, even before we entered I could hear people selling things and making trades with others, but now that we were inside, it was amazing. Stalls lined the streets in a never-ending line. It seemed that every hall had their own wares to sell. No stall seemed the same, even though they may have had relations to each other, none of the stalls sold the same items. It was truly an incredible feat. They stalls had different sections, amidst the chaos of people running around, everything was organized.

And the people. The people were from all over the place! Some pale skinned, some with a darker complexion, and even more in between. The merchants had different accents making whatever they were selling even better and rare!

I felt a tap on the shoulder rip me out of my thoughts.

"Could you uh, stop squeezing my arm? Thank you," Taurus said.

I instantly let go off his arm, he rubbed it in what looked to be pain.

"You've got a strong grip, you know?"

"Thanks, I must've gotten it from squishing my brother's neck when he annoyed me too much," I replied.

I heard a whisper of a "yikes" and we made our way through the streets.

"So where do you want to eat? You must know the town like the back of your hand since you talked about it so highly back there."

"The local tavern is always a place where tourists and locals go to, the food is amazing! The potatoes are actual gold, but they only cost about two palladium coins! Not that bad for a cheap magician and his family!" he exclaimed.

"Lead the way then."

Taurus opened the tavern door, several people turned on instinct to look at us.

There were a couple dozen of people in the building, but the tavern could've definitely fit a dozen more.

The magician next to me was about to take a step forward but hesitated and stood behind me. I could feel him quaking and breathing into my ear.

"What are you doing? Enter the building," I swiveled to face him.

"Uh, ladies first?" he added an unnecessary question mark to the end of his sentence.

I walked in and sat at one of the tables and chairs, Taurus trailing close behind me.

When we had situated ourself into the worn leather cushions, I leaned in and started questioning him.

"Why are you acting so scared and suspicious? You're usually so cheerful and bouncing up and down wherever you are," I gritted through my teeth.

"Well um, you see, my---"

"Yo Taurus! Long time to see!" a voice called.

"---cousins are here . . ." he stated in a condescending tone.

Two tanned, winged figures pulled up chairs next to us, well more like Taurus. They both almost looked the same, must be fraternal twins. The only difference separating the two was their expressions and their clothing choice.

The one who had greeted Taurus before had a smile on his face, it was almost as blinding as accidentally facing a flashlight directly into your eyes. But aside from the smile, he had a mischievous glint in his brown eyes. A trouble maker at least. I could see why my companion was worried about him. His clothing was flashy, but most likely functional too. he had a cape on his back---his cape was kinda like Taurus's, but with more white and gold. He had some golden headgear of his head too---looked like golden leaves on top of his white hair--- but I'm not sure why he needed it. His seemingly thick skull probably did all the protection already. Not to mention, his belt was also golden, two golden gauntlets hung from it. His shirt was white with what looked like blue slash marks as the design.

His brother on the other hand, seemed to be the polar opposite. He held a bored and unamused expression. His eyes looked tired, clearly seen bags were forming under them, but his eyes looked kinder, more sympathetic. This kid also had an edgy look to him, but he already seemed better then his counterpart. He seemed like the more rational one. In counter to his brother, his clothing was more normal and less showy. He had the same leaves on his head, only his were silver, but this was a little darker than his hair. This brother also had the same belt, but it was silver and he had a black halberd hanging from his belt. He wore a light gray shirt with red swirls coming from the left corner.

"So Taurus," the golden one started, "do you wanna catch up? And tell me about your friend here."

Wowowow new characters that you can adopt please.

But here are two of Taurus's cousins (and yes they're winged, kind of cliché but I like it).

Until next time.
