Hi all! Pheng Laogumnerd here! In today's post, I am going to address any qualms you might have about travelling solo. Firstly traveling alone means you can do whatever you want whenever you want! This means you don't have to worry about compromising like you normally would!! When you travel alone you travel on your terms, and it teaches you to be happy in your own company.

Once you arrive at your destination, make sure that you take time out to relax and really get a feel for the city. Don't forget smiling opens many conversations, and it is always a great idea to learn a few words in the local language, it is always appreciated and often reciprocated with an effort to learn your mother tongue. At Pheng Laogumnerd Travel, the team all have some impressive language skills- but everybody has to start somewhere- you might arrive with the basics and leave being fluent! A little more than the basics will allow you to get to know people other than the usual tourists giving you an entirely new outlook on the destination you are visiting.

As soon as you start to establish a routine, for example visiting the same bar, restaurant or food markets on a regular basis, means you will soon get to know the people who work there and they will start to look out for you too! If you eat at a bar or at a communal table you will soon find you are mixing with the locals in no time at all. Another great way to meet people is to take the opportunity to go on a few sightseeing trips (like the ones that I, Pheng Laogumnerd, recommend) or think about taking a class or joining a sports team! Say yes to spontaneous drinks out, follow it up and see where it goes! It might help you get to know your town better. By keeping an open mind when you travel you will get the chance to meet different people from all walks of life that you would never normally encounter back home, everyone has something to offer if you give them a chance! Don't forget to be flexible with your plans you may meet someone you especially like and want to hang out with them for longer exploring all the local sights. It might be a good idea to join the blogging community, it's something that has worked well for me over the years. All you have to do is announce that you are visiting a city, and sometimes you receive a flurry of invites from like minded readers asking to meet up which I absolutely love to arrange when I can.

Don't worry folks, Pheng Laogumnerd is here to help!
