(part 2)

It was already evening, the sky was getting darker and it looked like it would soon start raining when I decided to head back inside the house.

Your car was in the garage, which meant you were home but I wasn't in the mood to see or talk to you so I went straight to my room.

Immediately I hit the bed, I fell asleep and after a few hours of bliss, I woke up to the sound of a heated argument going on downstairs.

I let out a tired breath as I stared at the stucco work in the ceiling of my bedroom as muffled yells floated from downstairs to my room.

Shutting my eyes I willed myself to go back to sleep. A deep dreamless so I could just forget everything, but the more I tried to shut out the noise the more it seemed louder.

I turned from side to side, pressing the ball of my palms to my ears but the echoes made it feel like it was happening right outside my door.

I wanted to know what was going on but at the same time I didn't want to. I sat up and drew my knees to my chest as I pulled my earphones from my back pocket.

There was a loud crash, followed by a scream and without thinking I rushed out of my room and bounded down the stairs.

As my eyes landed on the both of you, my blood ran ice cold.

You were on the floor and he was on top of you. The same way his hands wrapped around the bottle of beer that morning, he wrapped it around your neck and squeezed.

His red eyes were blazing directly into your helpless ones, watching as he squeezed the life of them. Your two arms were pinned to the side with his knees ontop, your body shaking under his wrath.

There was no trace of humanity in those eyes that looked down at you, those hands that were swift to hurt.. To kill.

Every Fibre in my body was shaking, with fear but there was something else. It was rage.

Years of anger that had accumulated inside of me over took my bones and I had to grit my teeth just  to stop myself from screaming.

I didn't even know when I picked up the umbrella beside the staircase.

With every force in me I hit him on the back with the umbrella and he fell to the side.

For coming back to our lives, I hit him again.

For ruining the life, the relationship, the happiness that I had with my mother, I hit him again.

For turning my mother into the ghost of who she once was, I hit him harder and harder.

You screamed my name and I paused but before I could turn towards you, he yanked the umbrella from my hand.

He held the side of his stomach where I hit him and it looked like it was bleeding as he staggered to get up with the umbrella.

The madness that covered his eyes like a thick layer wasn't gone and I looked at you behind him, sprawled on the floor still trying to get yourself together with your hand rubbing your neck.

He stood to his full height and towered over me. “You demon possessed child." he coughed. With every step he took towards me, I took one back, my eyes wide with fear. "I'LL KILL YOU!"

He lunged towards me and I raised my hands to cover my face with my eyes clenched shut, anticipating his hit.

Another crash. He was on the ground. You were on your feet.

Blood covered the floor as they rushed out from his head were you hit him with the vase.

Broken, blood stained glass was everywhere and your palm bled from where you had a cut.

Short ragged breaths escaped your body as your eyes were as wide as mine.

Too much blood. Too much blood. Too much blood.

I continued to walk backwards, faster with every step, until my back hit the front door.

Without thinking I turned the knob and bolted out of the house.
