I smiled as the girl walked up to me.

"Hello, Rebekah," I said. "What are you doing here?"

"I heard Clary was missing," she replied. "I wanted to see if you were okay."

I could see in her eyes that she really meant it. I stood up and hugged her. As I released my grip from her, I kissed her cheek.

"I've missed you, Beks," I smiled.

She returned the smile. "I've missed you, too, Si."

"So, since you're back from Rome," I grinned. "What do you want to do?"

Her eyes lit up with excitement. "Let's get this party going."

"Wait, hold up," I said, my blood boiling with rage. "If you work for him, why are you here?"

Isabelle flicked her whip. "Yeah, why are you?"

He smiled, like there was nothing wrong with the world. "You would think that a being like me would work for a shadowhunter?"

I almost choked on the word being. "How do we know you're telling the truth?" I snapped.

"Demons don't lie. Monsters lie. And monsters? Monsters are human," his tone was lifeless.

"Demons are monsters, technically," I said.

He shot me a deathly glare that would have given any mundane a heart attack.

I licked my dried lips. "So," I said. "Where is this particular red-head you speak of finding?"

I had been in here for cold, dark, long, endless nights.

It really did feel like death, I thought.

I wish death was an option. This isn't death, I corrected myself. This is hell.

I imagined what I looked like. Red, wavy, messed up hair. Chains wrapped around my feet and arms. Clothes ripped and torn. Bruises covering my freckles.

I wondered if I was ever going to get out of here. Right now, the world seemed to move on. But me? I was stuck in this dark room, and I probably would be. For a long, long time.

Until I heard it. Breathing. Why hadn't I heard this before? Probably too caught up in my own stupid thoughts.

That means..there's someone in here with me.

I froze.

Who? A shadowhunter? Or could it be a demon?

I had never thought about my lack of weapons, until now.

I wonder what dying would be like. If that really was a demon, I was for sure dead.

But what was holding it back from killing me five days ago?

"Who's there?" I whispered, afraid Sebastian would hear me.

"Hello, dear Clary. We meet again."
