I shook my head in disbelief, "I still can't believe after all these years, Elizabeth wanted me to go back. I even tried quitting before Rafe died and now... I was about to go through the same reason why I was wanted to quit."
Travis exhaled a sharp breath, "I heard, so that's why I'm going to be careful. Alright, I will agree with your conditions. Will you be fine then?"
"I'm not sure. Maybe," I shrugged.
He stepped closer, "Do you want to talk about it?"
"We are going to be working in the next few months. Why don't we try to get along before I appear in the company and scare everyone? We can talk more about my brother and your job."
"I don't think so. No." Not when I could see him through you.
"I think you should get used to it. Get used to being with my presence. So it would be hard for you to work with me,"
I shrugged, "Maybe... I will think of it."
"Okay, I'll give you some time. I'm a patient man."
I sighed. If he was Rafe, he would be insisting by now. "Hmm, alright. Maybe it is a good idea for after all. I think might need a drink."
He grinned widely, "Are you sure?"
"Eli wanted me to stay here for the night anyway. She won't stop nagging me. Stephon likes to be here, too. So yeah, I think I could manage a little drink." Oh God, I wished what I was doing was right. I just met him today and I was already asking him to go out for a drink when I almost wanted to run away earlier.
Elizabeth suddenly appeared, "Well... I don't hear any screaming anymore and the last time I checked, you are miles away from each other but now you almost want to kiss each other's nose."
I backed away from Travis.
"We are going out, Eli. I just decided to sort out things with a drink. Want to come?" Travis told his sister.
"A drink, huh?" Elizabeth arched an eyebrow, "You guys just met and no, thank you. I have to look out for the kids."
"We will back in a few hours and I'm staying here tonight. Don't insist on the hotels, please."
Elizabeth shrugged, "Okay, if you say so."
"Shall we?" Travis invited.
Travis took me to a nightclub, which was surprising for me because Rafe would never take me to such a place. Rafe was a romantic restaurant date kind of a guy. What was Travis's thinking? I thought he wanted to talk. How are we going to talk if it was too loud and crowded?
A pop ear-splitting music was playing in the air. The place was dimmed lighted and a bit smokey although we sat in the VIP area.
"Uh, why did you bring me here?"
"You said you want to drink."
I rolled my eyes, "Is this the only place you can think of?"
"Hush... just relax and enjoy," he said. Travis took off his coat and covered it on my shoulders. I felt his fingers lightly brushed on my neck.
A waiter finally came and asked for our order. Travis asked for a bottle of whiskey and I ordered an apple juice.
"Why did you appear just now?" I had to ask. "Where were you all this time?"
