falling asleep

hanging myself from a palm
in the middle of an orange desert
catching flies in my mouth
yet starving for weeks swaying
in the gnashing wind
until the rope wore thin and dry

i saw beautiful sunrises too
they crept into my skull
and painted themselves again
chilling my mouth
as i desire to fall asleep
dropping as a pearl from a shell
