"Drinking and doing drugs is wrong!" Isn't that what you expected me to say? Isn't that what your parents and teachers say? Well, let me tell you something, I'm not going to sit here and waste my life telling you all not to drink or do drugs. That would be completely pointless since none of you actually know me, my opinion won't matter to you. But what I will say is this;
Proverbs 20:1 "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise."
Hosea 4:11 - Harlotry, wine and new wine take away the understanding.
Ephesians 5:18 - And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,
Proverbs 20:1 - Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise.
1 Corinthians 6:10 - nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.
ALSO, keep in mind that you, as a Christian, are representing God on this planet. If a non-believer or a new Christian saw you drinking beer, they will think that is okay. And before you say, "well I'm only having one", just remember that they don't know that. And you're not going to announce to everyone how much alcohol you're drinking, are you?
Now let me make myself perfectly clear, it says nothing in the bible about alcohol or wine being a sin. But I don't recommend it. I'm still friends with people that drink, but I don't agree or partake in it. What does it do for you, anyway? Besides waste your money. You don't need a beer to have an enjoyable time, or wine to celebrate. Just something to think about..
P.s. The pastor at my church was talking to us about alcohol and he said to imagine a Pastor in a bar, holding a beer can. I have to admit, that would bother me or freak me out. And it would set a bad example.
Have a Christ-centered day!
Song: Live Like That by Sidewalk Prophets (Chorus)
I want to live like that
And give it all I have
So that everything I say and do
Points to You
If love is who I am
Then this is where I'll stand
Never holding back
