The Gifted | Twins

"Still not understandin' this logic."
- Bryson Tiller

"Goodmorning Harry, how was school yesterday?" Asks Anne who sipped on her coffee.

"Alright," he shrugs taking his prepared lunch sack from the island counter.

"You meet anybody new?" She asks gently knowing how hard it is for her son to fit in at his school. He has not met a single friend ever since they moved to the new house and she knew why, but sometimes it worried her.

"Kinda," Harry admits truthfully, his mind wondered back to Kahli and he couldn't help but to feel butterflies in his stomach by just thinking about her.

Anne started to smile, "Oh really? Who is it?"

"Her name is Kahli..and she's new," Harry tells his mother openly. "I bumped into on her accident, and she sat with me at lunch too."

"Harry you're blushing!" Anne coos.

"Mum stop," he groans placing his hands on his cheeks feeling that he was indeed blushing and he hated that.

"Do you think she's pretty?" Anne asks very interested in this conversation.

"Mum," Harry deadpans giving her a look.

"What? I just wanted to know," Anne shrugs.

Harry sighed, "I'll see you later, okay?"

"I might be gone when you get home," Anne says quickly. "Work, you know?"

"Of course," Harry mumbles rolling his eyes. "Bye mum."

Anne sighed, "I love you Harry."

The seventeen year old boy didn't respond and decided to walk out the house. He wasn't the same ever since the divorce and he will never be. It is hard living with only one parent, but he is trying his very best to get through it all.

Getting in his car he pulled out of the driveway and made his way to school. Yesterday wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst either. He met the cutest girl he has ever seen and he finally socialized with somebody for the first time.

She was different and Harry liked that about her. When she embarrassed that jock in front of the class in first hour he knew that she is going to be something else. The fact that she sat by him at lunch told him a lot about her. She is bold and quite confident in herself, two things that Harry found quite appealing. Harry hasn't had a girlfriend and hasn't been in a relationship before, afraid he'll be rejected spot on but he had a different feeling about Kahli. She seemed nice and spontaneous, but of course he didn't want to get carried away with those floating thoughts.

When he got out of his car he made his way inside the school's building. People stared at him, but mostly guys were looking in his direction. He didn't know what was going on or why the boys were giving him weird looks but he decided to ignore it and make his way to his first hour.

"Hey Harry," Kahli spoke smiling as she walked up next to him with her books pressed against her chest.

"Hey," Harry says, not much enthusiasm in his voice but it was better than not acknowledging her at all.

"Okay..so I walked in the school and then all of a sudden people start staring at me like they never seen a black girl before," Kahli huffs kicking a paperball out of her way.

Harry snorted shaking his head. It was probably true because this school was full of white rich kids. Woodwind wasn't a very diverse school.

Khaki continued on, "Like..I know I'm cute but they ain't gotta stare at me like I did a crime."
