Table for one

"I am so sorry, but we lost him. I am so sorry."

"No, no no no. Fourth?  Anak, wake up. Andito si Daddy oh, anak wake up."

I just stood there, holding myself together while watching Thirdy crying over the small frame of our two year old son. Tears falling from my eyes, how i wish these tears would make me blind.

Bea's POV:

Jho: "Sorry Bei but we have to go, nakakahiya kila Mama eh."

Bea: "Sabi naman kasi sa inyo isama niyo na ang mga bata dito diba?"

I opened the door for the couple and gave them each a hug.

Nico: "Don't worry next time we'll bring them along."

I caught the hesitation on Jho's eyes pagka rinig sa sinabi ni Nico.

Jho: "Oh basta ha, pakita ka naman sa kasal nila Ponggay. Mas masaya kapag marami tayo doon. Hindi kana nga nagpakuhang bridesmaid, hindi kapa ba pupunta?"

Bea: "Let me see ok? I dont want to promise anything."

Nico just shrug it off and offer his cheek for a kiss and so does Jho and said goodbye.

Pagkalabas ng sasakyan nila sa gate, bumalik na ako sa loob ng bahay. This place used to be so lively with Thirdy, and our son Fourth. Now its just me and the helpers. For more than a year now, I am living alone and lonely.

"Manang Nors, masyado po malakas ang radyo niyo."

I shouted loud enough for her to hear me. Probably getting ready to sleep kaya napapa sarap nanaman ang radio listening. Hagya naman humina ang tunog.

Umakyat na ako sa taas to prepare for bed. Another day of living in this big lonely house. I survive again. Guess I conaider myself lucky enough to be able to do it.

Hiding in this bathroom doesn't help at all. When he was called to offer a toast for the couple, i immediately excuse myself to go to the bathroom. Hindi sa kung ano pa man. But i know him too well, he's too happy for Koko and Ponggay, and I might cry sa magiging speech niya and humiliate myself kung hindi ako nagtago dito.

I wiped the sting of tears  from my eyes. Review myself on the mirror bago lumabas uli.

With me on the table are my former team mates with their partners. Basically ako lang at si Kim ang walang kasama. But only because William is in the States for business. While Thirdy is with the Gilas men, he is also alone. Siya lang ang walang katabing date sa table nila.

Maybe people are wondering why, pero mga kaibigan at relatives lang naman namin talaga ang nakakaalam ng sitwasyon namin. After the accident, sila lang naman ang nakakaintindi sa mga naging choices namin ni Thirdy. And tried not to make it a big deal as much as possible. Even Koko and Ponggay asked me about the arrangement sa tables sa kasal nila.

Jia: "Bei, are you attending the annual Golf Club tourney for the wives and daughters ng mga members?"

Jia casually asked me while sipping hee wine. That's when Jho and Maddie side glanced at me, while Kat cough to signal Jia.
