six —— hello big brother
AFTER school Bella found herself sitting next to Spencer at dinner with the Hastings family. It wasn't the strangest thing to see as the two families were so close, so it did feel odd to Bella.
"I've decided on the class I want to take at Hollis," Spencer said as she put down her booklet of all the classes. Bella had left hers at home and a decided to scroll through her socials while the three waited for Melissa and Wren to join them, "but it's not for credit, dad, it's for fun." Spencer continued to speak to her father.
It was rare that the Hastings ever chose something just because she wanted to, so Bella felt quiet proud for her for a second.
Though Spencer's father felt otherwise as he let out a chuckle, "What's the point of that? Your mum's coming back a day early. She'll be home tomorrow." He said changing the subject.
The two soon left the table after that as they saw Aria walk into the Grill.
"Hey. I was gonna e-mail you when I got home." Spencer said once they reached the short brunette.
"I can be the first to say that lunch was the weirdest." Bella spoke up, as that was one of the main things running through her head.
"I'd say on a scale from one to ten . . . it was an eleven." Aria agreed with the girl.
"Yeah." Spencer nodded along.
"Is that the new fiancée?" Aria asked as Wren and Melissa walked passed the three girls. "Is he as uptight as Melissa?"
"No one's as uptight as Melissa." Spencer shot in reply, making the girls let out a chuckle. "We'd better get back." Spencer said before the two girls made their way back to the table the five were sitting at. Spencer sitting next to Wren, and Bella next to her at the end of the table.
"Can I get anyone a drink?" A waiter asked just as the two sat down.
"I'll have a vodka soda." Spencer said as a joke.
"She's kidding." Melissa asked just as he was just about to ask for ID. Something Spencer didn't have but Bella did. It was obsessively a fake and she would never use it in front of parents to her friends, and or her parents.
Everyone ordered their drinks, the two under twenty-one getting nonalcoholic drinks, and oddly enough Wren actually getting a vodka soda.
"High Low, anyone?" Melissa asked as the drinks arrived.
"High Low?" Wren asked confused as he didn't know the game. Bella had been around the Hastings family enough to know what it was and that Melissa only wanted to play if she knew she was going to win.
"It's a game. You guys don't play it in bed?" Spencer said in reply, almost making Bella laugh as she couldn't believe she said in front of her sister and father.
"Wren, you can play too." Spencer's father cut in.
"I'm a bit lost." Wren said as he didn't know how to play the game.
"You'll catch on." Peter replied.
"I'll go first." Melissa cut in, getting the game Bella hated started. "We just started our first week of class, and I've already been nominated to serve on the business school's leadership committee." Though as Melissa was talking something caught Bella's eye. She subtly looked over at the space between Spencer and Wren and saw Wren give Spencer his drink.
Though soon enough it was Bella's turn and she tried to scrape her mind for anything that was worth telling. Though there was only one thing, and she was knew it was a downer, but she still said it as she didn't want to lose, "They finally found out what happened to our friend that went missing last year. She was dead the whole time." She said as those who heard her went silent as she took a drink.
It was soon Spencer's turn. She didn't hear what Bella said as she was trying to explain to Wren how to play, and was stumped on an answer, instead Wren took a go, "I'll go. I got a brilliant parking spot today, right in front of the chem lab."
After that the dinner went on how every other dinner went with the Hastings family. And Bella ended up staying over for the night as it was late and she didn't want to wake anyone up when she got home.
She didn't end up staying the next night as both herself and Spencer had a paper due the next day in their history class. It was something neither girl was looking forward to — actually Bella was because she loved anything about the past, though you would never hear her tell that to anyone other then those close to her.
"How was dinner?" A voice called from her door frame. Bella didn't see the point in looking up as she was too busy writing her paper, though she amused it was Jordan as she was always the one asking her about her day.
"It was as you expect every Hastings dinner to go." Bella said nonchalantly, as she typed away on her bed.
"So, it was full of each of them out doing the other, and each of them feeding the others ego. Good to see nothing has changed while I've been gone." At the last sentence Bella was left confused. She had literally seen Jordan that morning as she was the main source of her sibling getting to school.
"What do you m-?" Though she was cut off from herself as when she looked up she saw her older brother. "Oh my, god, Payton!" She called out as she practically jumped over her bed and embraced her brother. "What are you doing here?"
"Mum and dad still lived here, right?" Payton joked in reply to what his sister asked.
"They said you wouldn't be here till at least another week or so." Bella asked again as she wasn't expecting her brother so soon.
"Well, I wanted it to be a surprise. So. Surprise." He said as he embraced her once again.
After the two caught up — Bella skipping over her new cyber-friend — Payton left so that Bella could finish her essay. Though just as Payton left Bella's phone went off. She was hesitant to check and when she read the text she had received she had every right to be.

And Bella could help but look around her room. She knew no one was there but she didn't know how someone found out information about her that was only just new to herself.
