Watching, I keep waiting, still anticipating love
Never hesitating to become the fated ones
Turning and returning to some secret place to cry
Watching in slow motion as you turn to me and say
Take my breath away
Through the hourglass I saw you, in time you slipped away
When the mirror crashed I called you and turned to hear you say
If only for today, I am unafraid
Take my breath away
Take my breath away
Watching every motion in this foolish lover's game
Haunted by the notion somewhere there's a love in flames
Turning and returning to some secret place inside
Watching in slow motion as you turn my way
Take my breath away
We finished the song and everybody clapped as Kat and Matt kissed before walking to their table. Tina and I bowed and headed to our seats as well. Luckily for me (not) our table seating went like this; Matt, Kat, Tina, Jakey, Olivia, Arthur, Kerri, Andy, Me, Zac and then your back to Matt.
"You ok?" Andy leaned over when just as I sat down.
"Yup." I said popping the 'p'
"Sophie." I turned in my chair and smiled at my mother.
"You look beautiful, so does your daughter, now could please tell her to sit down. I've chased her for too long." She said out of breath. I laughed.
"You shouldn't chase her mum, she'll sit down when she realises no one is paying attention." My mother rolled her eyes and I stood up.
"I'll go." Zac said already leaving the table before I could reply. I shut my mouth and sat back in my chair. Everyone was looking at me and I just shrugged.
"Does he know?" My mum asked sitting where Zac was. I nodded. "Well it's about time. Just wait until I tell Maria." She beamed and walked off to gossip.
"You ok about all this sis?" Matt asked looking at me concerned.
"I'm fine Matt, stop worrying about me. This is your day!" He gave me a brotherly look but I just smiled and nodded towards Kat who was talking to Tina. Matt grinned and stood up while catching everyone's attention.
I guess it's time for speeches.
"Well, firstly I'd like to thank you, on behave of my new wife-" Que the aww's here "for you all attending our wedding. Secondly, I'd like to the thank our family and close friends for all the support they've given us and speically my little sister Sophie," Que my blush here. "If it wasn't for her, we'd probably never have gotten together nor could we have pulled off this wedding. Lastly I'd like to thank Kat. You've made me the happiest guy today and I hope to make you the happiest girl for the rest of our lives." He smiled and Kat blushed as people started to clap.
"Ok, ok. Now it's my turn for a toast. Although there's only really one person here I'd like to thank the most. Without this girl I wouldn't have gotten to where I am today. She's had a tough life," Tough life? She's got to be talking about me. I sank in my chair a little, not used to this much attention in such a short amount of time. "But no matter what fate put in her way she always managed to overcome it. Hell, she organised this wedding in two days. She's been my inspiration since we were kids, kind to everyone and has enough love in her heart for second chances. I hope one day I can repay her for the all the great things she's given me through life. I love you Sophie." Kat choked as she broke down into tears.
"NOOOO You're ruining your make-up." Kerri shouted causing everyone to laugh.
"Nice one Kerri." Tina said sarcastically.
"Love you." I mouthed to Kat and Matt.
"Best man speech!" Someone yelled. Lucky for me, Tina was doing a speech on behalf of all us bridemaids, she insisted.
"I think I need to pee." I heard Liv mumbled while stuffing her face with chicken and-was that chocolate. Things being pregnant does to you.
"Don't let it be your water." I heard Jakey say while moving his chair closer to Tina.
"Shut it little boy." She said rubbing soothing circles over her bump.
"I'm not a little boy!" Jakey complained like....well, a little boy.
"Just proved my point buddy." Liv grinned making Jakey huffed in annoyance.
"Hi guys." I said testing the mic on the stage. "I wasn't sure where to begin so I figure the start would be a good idea." People chuckled. "Matt and I, we grew up together. Back in high school we were the hot players." I winked at Matt who just shook his head while Kat grinned wickedly at him. They really did make the perfect couple. "I knew the look on Matt's face when he saw Kat for the first time. I knew at that moment he was a goner. I didn't understand the true lengths of his feelings towards her until I was put in the same position." I risked stealing a glance at Sophie when I said this.
"I knew what it meant to feel something so deep for that one person that you would give anything up just to be with her. My relationship didn't go as smooth as Matt's, I messed it up. I've realised that now, a little late I know but better late then never right. You have a love so strong and rare that you can overcome anything. A love like that can get through any weather and together we can make it through. After every storm there's a blue sky. I guess what I'm trying to say is, you two are perfect for each. Kat, you're a beautiful bride and a lucky woman. Matt....you're handsome too." He laughed. "I'm sorry for not being around these past five years. I really missed out on a lot but I promise-I'll try," I corrected myself after seeing Sophie's face. She still hadn't forgiven me from the last promise I broke. "To be around more. I love you man. So as part of your wedding gift, I'm going play one of my new songs that nobody has yet heard." Everyone clapped as I walked to get ready.
"Nice speech dude!" Dustin patted me on the back before handing me my guitar.
"Really came from the heart." I sensed the meaning behind it.
"Problem is, does she realise your speech was mainly aimed for her sake?" He asked before walking off. Ask me a question and walk off why not.
"Zac." Paige's voice had me spining 180 to face her. Shit, how the hell had I forgotten about her?
"We need to talk."
"Come on man, we're up." I looked back at Paige torn.
"We'll talk later." She smiled and nodded towards the stage.
"Thanks." I said kissing her cheek before walking on stage and looking for one person in particular.
Annnnnnd I'm going to stop there. =)
Have to wait for the next chapter to hear his song and for more Zac and Sophie moments and to see what Paige wants to talk about :D
