Dissociative identity disorder (previously known as multiple personality disorder) is thought to be a complex psychological condition that is likely caused by many factors, including severe trauma during early childhood (usually extreme, repetitive physical, sexual, or emotional abuse).
─【 † 】Jimmy Dreadful has DID. Dissociative Identity Disorder. He has multiple identities. It developed when he was just a young boy. The different identities he has are called alters and he has three of them. Alters have their own names, ages, and races. When the different personalities start to reveal themselves and control Dread's thoughts or actions, it's called switching. Switching from one alter to another takes either seconds, minutes, or days.
One alter is the Dread that you know and love. Dread, with this personality, is nice (for a creep running a murder circus) and kind. He treats his family as best as he can and tends to do everything he can for them. He is also extremely protective over the people he loves and cares for. Dread is also outgoing and crazy and very enthusiastic and happy with this personality. Like I said, his main personality is the one that everyone else is used to.
Dread's second alter is his father, Patrick. Dread tries his hardest to keep this personality locked up but every now and then Patrick will come out. Patrick is angry and cold. He's also extremely abusive both verbally and mentally. He'll hit or insult practically anyone, especially the people he's the closest to, for no reason. He'll do all of this without any remorse or guilt. His body language will change as well. Patrick will slouch more and always have a scowl on his face and have his eyes narrowed. Patrick's voice will also become deeper and harsher. This alter is Patrick and if you call him Dread, he'll just get angry and say: "That weak fucker? He's gone!"
Dread's last alter is Jimmy. Jimmy is quiet and weak and frail. He'll flinch when you touch him and will probably spend most of his time hiding under tables or curled up in corners. Jimmy doesn't talk at all and he uses actions to say what needs to be said. This identity is rare and hardly ever comes out. You're usually stuck with Dread or Patrick.
