Chapter 2 (Brooklyn)

"Do I need to remind you that your task is to make that boy fall for you? That's the only way this can work."

"I know, but he's the most repulsive, arrogant man I've ever met."

"I'm not asking you to like him. I'm asking you to pretend, so he will tell you all the facts we need to build our case."

"There's absolutely no way I can do it. You do remember I have a boyfriend right?"

"If your boyfriend is more important than taking down the most powerful drug ring in the state then I'm going to have to ask you to step off this case."

"What? Is there another angle I can work?"

"Every other one is filled. I'm sorry Julianne," the use of my real name caught me off guard.

"I'll stay. But if he tries to sleep with me, I'm out." I said as I hung up the phone. My head slammed into the pillow as I let out a sigh.

"How am I going to be able to do this?" I said to myself. As soon as I finished that sentence, there was a sudden knock on the door. Huffing, I trudged over to the door to see who was there. As soon as the door was open, the person behind it started speaking.

"Well hello there gorgeous. It's about time you agreed to meet me," Austin slurred barely being able to stand on his own two feet.

"You're sooooo wasted.... Come here," I said trying to lead him into my apartment.

"Rape!" he screamed as I reached for his hand.

"Shut up and come inside!"

"Ohhhhhhh you so want me....." he said with a wink as he finally stepped inside the apartment.

"Just shut up. How did you even find me? You're too wasted to even remember your name." I whispered as I closed the door behind us.

"Baby you called me remember? A basic booty call.''

"First off, I didn't call you. Second it's usually the girl who receives the booty call not the other way around. And third I'm not nor will I ever be your 'baby.'''

"C'mon now. You know you want this," he said removing his shirt. My God, that boy is hot. I tried not to stare at his perfectly toned abs and biceps.

"I guess you're mistaken," I said hoping he wouldn't notice my stare.

"Baby c'mon I know you're drooling."

"No I'm not," I whispered as my voice cracked.

"Babe I can see you," he said as he walked closer. He leaned into my ear and whispered, "You know I'm not as drunk as I appear to be."

"You dirty bastard," I said pushing him away. "If you came here to try to talk your way into my pants, you might as well leave now."

"If you thought I was nothing but a bastard why did you let me in here in the first place?"

"Admit it, you liked me the moment you saw me."

"I didn't actually notice you until you started talking. I was too busy thinking about my super hot boyfriend back home to focus on you," I said as I walked away from him.

"Woah now. That one actually kinda hurt."

"Good. I think we both know your ego needs a little bruising."

"My ego is virtually nonexistent."

"Yeah right. If you aren't an egotistical, selfish, arrogant son of a bitch, then why exactly are you here?"

"I need a place to crash for the night. Can I stay here?"

"You've been here 10 minutes and you're just now asking?"

"Well can I?"

"As long as you stay on the couch. And for Christ's sake put your shirt back on!"

"You and I both know you're enjoying the view."

"And with that I'm going to bed. Goodnight Austin," I said walking into my room and shutting the door.

As I stepped out of my pants, the door suddenly opened.

"Hey can I...... woah! Sorry!" Austin yelled as he stood in the doorway staring at my pant-less legs.

"Get out!" I screamed throwing a pillow at him.

"You know most girls would be begging for me to stay with them..." he said as he closed the door. "By the way you have some nice legs."

"If that's your weak excuse for flirting, it's not working." I said as my cheeks turned bright red from his comment.

"Well then why are you blushing?"

"Okay seriously. Why the hell are you here?"

"I need a place to stay for a few days. And I have no where else to go."

"Well then I guess you don't have many friends if I'm the only one you can turn to."

"I have friends. I just didn't have anyone as beautiful as you to stay with."

"And there you go with the flirting stuff again. I'm going to bed. Goodnight," I said climbing into bed, still smiling at his remark.

"Goodnight beautiful."
