I walk into mine and Brooklyn's shared bedroom, finding him sat on the edge of the bed, his feet dangling off as he tries to stop the urge to sleep that's obviously coming over him.
"Brook? Why are you still awake? You shouldn't have waited up for me" I shake my head at him, feeling bad that I've kept him awake when he's so tired.
"I couldn't sleep without knowing you were back safe" he gives me a saddened smile.
"What's up B?" I question, using the nickname he's been living recently. It's only a letter but he says it has a nice ring to it.
"Nothing, I'm fine" Brook says, shuffling up towards his pillow on the large bed.
"You sure? You look sad"
"I said I'm fine"
"You don't look fine"
"I'm fine" he repeats himself, raising his voice a little.
"Brook I know you're mad at me, just tell me why" I frown, confused at what I could've possibly done to upset him.
"You're always out. It's like you never have time for me anymore. We can never go out of dates like we used to because you're never home"
I sigh, hanging my head down low as I finish getting changed, climbing into bed next to Brooklyn.
"I didn't realise you felt this way, I'm sorry Brook. You're more important. I should've listened before. Next time you want to go on a date I'll cancel whatever plans I have okay?"
"I shouldn't have snapped I'm sorry" he looks into my eyes, his own starting to water up.
"Brook, baby don't cry. Come here" I open my arms, which he smiles slightly at. He crawls across the bed and lays his head on my shoulder, letting the few stray tears slip out onto my shirt.
"Brook please don't cry" I kiss the top of his head, resting my own on top of his.
"I love you"
"I love you so much more B"
