I was lucky the mechanics were able to fix my jeep for a reasonable price, I was worried it was going to cost too much for it's worth and I'd be shit out of luck, with no car. But with a new alternator, the jeep was up and running. I pulled up around the front of the school and waited for Lennon, idling my car.

There was something off about her, she seemed cold, like she wasn't interested in anything but getting a good grade. Like she didn't want anything to do with me. She came out of the school with a frown on her face. I waved her over and kicked the passenger seat door open. She hopped in and placed her things on her lap.

"Do you want to listen to music?" I gestured towards the radio.

"Uh- sure." She nodded pursing her lips while her hands were in constant motion.

I reached forward and turned on the popular radio station in Haling Cove for teenagers, 96.5 The Bounce. The parking lot was bumper to bumper, like always.

"This won't take long, it moves pretty quickly after the light turns green. My place is only like, a ten minute drive." I tried to make conversation but she only nodded. "So, did Mr. Johnson say we had to write the letters in correspondence to each other or just two letters in general?"

"I think two letters in general, but corresponding would be cool." She said, watching me tap my hands against the steering wheel to the beat of the song.

"Who are you thinking it should be between? Like Daisy and Jay or even Daisy and Nick." I said, keeping the conversation going.

"We should probably come up with ideas for both and see what would be easiest." She suggested, I nodded and turned the corner at the lights.

"Okay, yeah, we can do that." I muttered.

For the rest of the drive we didn't talk. She seemed perfectly fine sitting in silence, actually more than comfortable with it. I respected that. I felt my stomach growl, I was starving. I could have sworn I heard her laugh but it was probably just my imagination, because when I looked over she was looking solemnly out of the window.

My Mom's car was already in the driveway when we pulled in, so I knew her and my brother were already home. "I'm going to get something to eat before we start, do you want anything?" I asked her.

"I'm fine, thanks." She muttered and I just nodded.

"Mom I'm home!" I yelled in as I opened the door and my Mom peeked her head in from the kitchen.

"Oh, you brought someone." Mom said. It was her way of asking if she was my girlfriend without embarrassing me if she was wrong.

"Mom this is Lennon, Lennon this is my Mom, Jenny. We have an english project we have to do together." I told her and I saw some recognition in her eyes.

"Lennon Reese?" Lennon nodded, as confused as I was. "You two used to go to the same Day Care, you were joint at the hip."

"Really?" I had no memory of it.
