"Try anything and you die," a male voice ordered from behind her.
Her heart thumped wildly in her chest and she screwed her eyes shut, her baby sister crying in her arms and she was helpless.
"Stop that fucking crying" Another voice ordered from behind her,
"Put the baby down" The man said from behind her but she didn't move,
"Put the baby down or I'll do it myself!"
She walked slowly, her hands shaking, but she managed to place the baby down gently on the couch.
"Turn around and walk back over here"
The girl twisted around slowly even through the tears in her eyes that blurred her vision she knew what had happened before she saw it.
But it still knocked the wind out of her body.
She couldn't breath.
She couldn't move.
She couldn't see.
She couldn't hear.
Her whole world was crashing down on her and she couldn't hold the weight on her shoulders.
She sank to her knees.
The two lifeless bodies of the people that brought her into this world lay there limp, blood pouring out of their bodies from gun shot wounds.
"Get up!" the man yelled and she stood up absolutely numb.
She could give up right there, just wait for the gun to shoot her and she wouldn't have to live in this world anymore.
What was the point?
Behind her the baby cried.
The baby that brought a new light to their broken family and the baby that screamed, her wails on any other day would have brought havoc into their household.
But today, it brought hope.
She wasn't going to die today.
She walked over to the man that stood in front of her,
"I don't want to kill you, kid- stay there" he instructed but she didn't listen.
With one swift movement she kneed the man in front of her in the groin and swiped the gun off of him as he doubled over in pain.
Then she used whatever strength she had to swing the gun straight at his head, the cold metal knocking him out.
The other man had noticed what was happening and pulled out his own gun, and that's how she landed in the position she was in.

"Put down the gun you brat!" he yelled at her but she didn't budge.
She aimed it right at his head, his features blurred by the tears that formed in her eyes. It also blurred the two lifeless figures of the man and woman in front of her, the same two figures that hung in the locket around the twelve year old's neck.
"Put the gun down or I'll shoot you and her!" he yelled back pointing the gun at the year old baby, who was wailing for comfort,
"Don't touch her" her voice shook with every word and the tears spilled out from her eyes.
