five —— that wasn't supposed to happen
AFTER their interrogation like talk with the detective it was time for lunch, and the five girls found themselves sitting together like when Alison was alive.
"He knows we're lying." Aria said worryingly, talking about what happened before lunch.
"Lying is not a crime." Hanna said, though she was wrong.
"It is when it's to the police. Especially when its a false statement. It's called obstruction of justice." Bella corrected the blonde, as she took a sip of her drink.
"Please! We lied about drinking." Hanna replied, reminding the girls of one of the many things that happened that night. "But the truth that matters is we don't know anything about what happened to Ali that night."
"We also know abut someone who might have wanted to hurt her." Spencer snapped back. Bella thought that what the girls were fighting about was weak and that they had bigger fish to fry.
"We should have told the police the truth about Jenna's accident the night it happened." Emily butted in.
"I wanted to, remember?" Hanna reminded them.
"We had a chance to do more than just tell the truth. We had a chance to stop Ali." Aria commented.
"Please. Not even God himself could have stopped Ali." Bella scoffed at Aria thinking they could have stopped the girl. "She would have done it with or without us there, and we'd still be in this situation."
"Well, we didn't stop her." Spencer said not paying mind to what Bella said. "And telling the police now about what happened to Jenna isn't going to make her see again. It'll just ruin our lives."
The table went quiet as the sound of tapping on the floor could be heard, meaning that the girl they were talking about was in hearing range.
Not that it stopped Hanna, "Oh, my god, she's back in school too?"
Aria ended up walking towards said girl and inviting her to their table.
"What is she doing?" Spencer asked, though she knew the answer.
"Apparently taking a page out of Sun Tzu's book." Bella replied. "Keep your friends close but your enemies closer." Bella mumbled the quotes from the book she had read countless times.
