A/N: This is a bit different, but I was inspired by a Dutch song, 'Een wereld zonder jou', which means 'A world without you'. I've put the song above the one shot, with English translations included (which are not perfect, but it's something)

Lewis makes his way through the paddock, his sunglasses on and headphones covering his ears, wanting to close himself off from the world around him. Some might say it's rude, but they don't know what's really going on. They will never know. Lewis has put on a mask, not wanting to let his fans know what's going on in his life. Not wanting to let them know how much he's hurting, how upset he feels.

In fact, he hasn't told anyone on the paddock. He doesn't want them to know. He doesn't want anyone to know the real reason he missed the event in London. Yes, he needed time to himself, but not for the reason the whole world seems to think.

He knows he has to put on a brave face this weekend, showing the fans that came out for him how much he appreciates it. He has to be the one to beat. He has to make sure everyone out here has an amazing weekend. Normally, he would feel happy and excited, ready for the battle. But not this time. This time, he feels empty, alone. Because even though there are thousands and thousands of fans here for him, the one person he needs isn't here.

She has been on his mind ever since she walked out of his apartment just a few days ago, taking her stuff with her. It wasn't that they didn't love each other or that they had a big fight. When word gets out, people will probably think one of them cheated as that's what seems the cause of a lot of break ups nowadays. But none of that is true. If it was up to him, they'd still be together. Unfortunately, lack of time has gotten the better of them. Unable to spend much time together, a break up is almost inevitable.

But Lewis can't get her out of his mind, no matter how hard he tries. He has told himself over and over that this is for the best, that it'll allow him to focus more on racing. But his heart doesn't want to hear it. It feels as though he's facing a tough battle and he's all by himself. He needs her arms around him to hold him, to give him strength. Living in a world without her seems impossible. But he has to do it.

She walks through her apartment, which feels empty. She hasn't really been here in ages as she always stayed with Lewis. They were practically living together and now she's on her own. Physically. Mentally, he's still with her. He has been on her mind ever since she walked out of his apartment and no matter what she does, she can't get him out of her mind.

Her friends have been calling her over the past days, asking her how she's doing. Every time she has lied, telling them she's okay. But she's not, she's far from it actually.

She has been trying to distract herself by watching TV and reading books, which she usually loves to do. But right now, it doesn't make any difference. He seems to be everywhere. When she's watching TV, she misses his arm around her. When she's reading, she misses his arm around her. He's all she can think about.  She needs him in her life, no matter how hard she tries to deny it.

Lewis gets in his car, ready for the race at Silverstone. This is the moment, he needs show how good he really is. He needs to show that he can do this, without her. Even though no one knows what is really going on, he needs to prove it to himself. He needs to prove to himself that he can live without her.

As he drives around the track, he seems to be flying. He wishes he could fly, then he could fly away from here and be with her. Whenever he is in his bolide, it feels as if time has stopped, like the only thing moving are him and his car. Not because he is that fast, but because he feels like nothing can touch him, hurt him whenever he is in the car. Normally, it's the best feeling in the world. But not today. Today it makes everything worse. It makes him feel like he'll feel like this forever, alone and empty.

She knows she shouldn't be doing this, but she can't help it. He's so close to her, she needs to see him just one more time. She walks to the entrance of the track and shows the entry pass Lewis had gotten her before she walked out. She makes her way to the Mercedes garage, knowing Lewis won't be there. She can hear the cars going around the track, desperately hoping that Lewis is the one at the front. She knows how much this race means to him, to his fans.

"Hey, you're late! The race is almost over already," one of the engineers greets her, making her realize Lewis hasn't told his team about what happened. He probably hasn't told anyone, knowing him.

"Yeah, something came up," she decides to say, which seems to satisfy the engineer. He focuses back on the screen in front of him, which shows that Lewis is indeed in front, making her smile. There are just a few more laps to go, which gives her some time to think of what she actually wants to say.

Lewis wins the race, which cheers him up a little. Seeing the enthusiasm of the fans, it makes him feel better. Still, as he's standing on the podium, there's one face missing. Hers. He wants to share this victory with her. In this moment, he realizes that even though he has tried to live without her, he can't. He needs her.

She waits for him in the garage, not wanting to go out to the podium. She doesn't know how she'll react when she sees him. Or how he'll react. She knows it'll be a while before he gets back to the garage with the post-race press conference, the interviews and all the fans. But she'll wait, doesn't matter how long. She needs to see him.

When all the interviews are done and the fans are starting to leave, Lewis returns to his garage, talking to his press officer. The garage is mostly empty, the team all with their families before they have to take the car apart so that it can be shipped to Hungary. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees someone sitting in the back, someone familiar. He looks over and it seems as time has started to move again when he sees it's her.

"Y/N," Lewis says as he slowly walks over to her, not sure why she is here or how she feels.

"Lewis, hey," she says as she gets up and walks towards him until there's a just a meter between them.

"What are you doing here?"

"I had to see you, I hope you don't mind."

"No, of course not! I'm happy that you're here. I wanted you here."

"You did?" she asks surprised and  Lewis nods.

"When I was standing on the podium, you were the only one I wanted to see and you weren't there."

"I was here."

"Why didn't you come to the podium?"

"I didn't know how I would react to seeing you."

"Why did you come? I thought that you were done?"

"So did I, but I'm not. I can't be. I need you Lew," she says and Lewis just looks at her, not believing his ears, not daring to believe them.

"Lew?" she says, confused as to why he's not saying anything.

"You have no idea how happy I am to hear you say that," Lewis says before closing the gap between them and wrapping his arms tightly around her, holding her close to him. Both of them feel complete again, like the piece that was missing has been found.

"I missed you so much."

"I missed you too, so much. I never want to be without you again, I need you in my life. I can't be in a world without you in it. You are my world Y/N."

"I'll never leave again."
