"Dysautonomia POTS? What even is that?"
Someone has seen my medical ID bracelet again. I sigh, knowing this would take my marbles to explain it to them properly. As much as I want to explain it to them, they wouldn't understand. I've tried before. Many people stare at me like a lost puppy as soon as I tell them what POTS stands for.
"Dysautonomia POTS is a type of autonomic dysfunction.", I say, as simply as I can.
"What does autonomic mean?" the person inquires, scratching their head to help conjure up the slightest clue as to what I'm talking about.
"It means the things your body is supposed to do automatically but doesn't. Anyway, POTS stands for Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome."
"Wut?"
"Just.... nevermind. I'll write a casual book about it to educate people about POTS."
