Mia's P.O.V

During the middle of English, Dylan walked into my class. He handed Ms. Brown a piece of paper. He then walked out of the room, sparing me a quick glance.

Ms. Brown looked at the paper, then up at me.

"Mia, you're wanted in the nurses office." She said.

The class instigated as I got up from my seat. I walk out of the classroom and in the direction of the nurses office. I knock on the door and she opens it.

"You needed me?" I say.

"Yes. I was told to give you a physical. Please, come inside." She said.

I walk into the room. She sat down behind her desk.

"Can I have your full name please?" She said, typing on her computer.

"Mia Alexis Curry." I reply.

"Date of birth?" She asked.

"April 5th." I say.

"Parents name?" She asked.

"I'm adopted." I say.

"Still." She said.

"Wardell Stephen Curry." I say.

"Okay. I'm gonna take your weight and height. I need you take off your shoes." She said.

I do as told as she gets the scale ready. I stand against the scale as she does my height. She writes it down then has me stand on the scale.

She wrote down my weight. She had me sit on the bed so she could check my eyes and teeth.

"You have very pretty eyes." She compliments.

"Thank you." I say.

She nods. She checked my teeth, complimenting that as well. She lifted my shirt and pushed her fingers against my stomach.

"When did you start your period?" She asked.

"When I was 13." I say.

"Have you ever missed school because of it?" She asked.

"No." I say.

She nods, writing that down as well. She checked my heart rate and everything else. After another 30 minutes, I was done.

I made my way back to class. On the way there, I ran into Dylan. I tried to avoid him, but he wasn't having it.

"Mia, hey." He said.

"Hi." I say.

"What's up? I haven't talked to you since your first day of school." He said.

"I'm good. And you?" I say.

"Nothing much. Just getting myself ready for football season." He said.

"Great. Can I go now?" I say.

"Why do you keep avoiding me? Every time I come near you." He said.

I shrug, not really knowing what to say to that. He sighed.

"Listen Mia, I really like you. Like a lot." He said.

"Mhm." I say.

"Can we try to make it work?" He said.

"Dylan, I'm in 9th grade. You're in 12th. If we were to be together, it wouldn't look right." I say.

"I don't care what anyone would say about us. All I know is that you'll be mine and I'll be yours." He said.
