•~•CHAPTER 16•~•

"Please call me Miranda sweetie." I nod in understanding and she smiles widely, taking a seat on the plush chair. Before I can sit as well, Mason pulls me onto his lap. I flush immediately at the gesture but his mom just smiles wider.

"Okay. What do you want to know?"

"Do you have any siblings? How old are you? What pack are you from? How old are your parents?" She begins to list off questions.

"I have a younger sister. She's around this pack house somewhere actually. I'm 17 and from the neighboring pack. Alpha Sykes is my Alpha. And my mom would be 38 if she were still alive. My dad is 45 but I don't know if he's alive or not." I shrug while she looks horrified at my confession.

"He left?" I nod.

"Anything else?" I really don't want to stick on that subject.

"Well yes. Plenty but I'll only ask a few more for tonight. Where did my son and you meet?"

"Alpha Sykes' last birthday ball. The mascaraed one."

"I thought so. That's adorable really," she gushes.

"Mom!" Mason whines impatiently. "Do you have to ask so many. I want alone time with her you know?"

"Fine fine. Last one. Should I be expecting grand babies anytime soon?" Heat creeps up my neck and cheeks once again at what she's implying. But obviously she knows too that I have to get pregnant over the next 13 days.

"Mom. That's enough. You're embarrassing her. Please. That's it for tonight." My mate scolds her gently but she just laughs it off.

"It was nice meeting you Sage. I hope I'll see you around much more. Goodnight guys!" We all stand and she hugs both of us before leaving us alone.

"Finally!" He groans.

"Sage!" A small voice calls. Mason growls profanities to himself and pouts all the way to the bathroom. I can't help but laugh as I open the door and allow my sister to come in.

"Hey sis!" she says happily, practically skipping into the room.

"What happened?" I question immediately.

"I'll tell you, but first...where is your scary Alpha mate?"

I giggle at her and point towards the bathroom. "Really?" she whines. "But then I can't have girl talk!" she groans dramatically for effect and walks over to the couch to sit down.

"Actually, I have to go speak with my Beta so you can talk all you want. I'll be back in less than 30 minutes," my scary Alpha mate says as he comes out of the bathroom. He kisses my lips adoringly and then leaves my sister and me to ourselves.

"So what happened?"

"Well first of all, I'm staying here while you go off with Mason. I met these 2 girls in the lounge and they are both really funny and awesome so that's fantastic."

"That's great. That'll be awesome for you. You'll stay in here right? But alone. Mason would kill me if you had a slumber party or something in here."

"Yes I'll stay here alone. But uh...there's something else."

"Which would be?"

Her entire face heats up and she takes a long pause before speaking. "I think I found my mate. I mean obviously I won't actually know till I'm at earliest my 17th birthday, but the moment I saw this boy I was instantly crushing. And I don't do boys. He's really, really attractive though Sage," she sighs dreamily.

"Age? Did you talk to him? What's his name?"

"I don't know exactly. Older than me though. And no, I admired from afar," she blushes. "I don't know that either."

"You're killing me smalls," I groan.

"Well he radiated a bit of power," she shrugs. "If that helps."

"I guess. Can you guess his age?"

"I don't know...between 17 and 19."

"That's so old! That's my mate's age," I pout.

"I am not old!" Mason declares, walking back into the room, now with Carver and Drew flanking him. They are both laughing and shoving each other as they follow Mason.

"You are very old. I am thoroughly repulsed by your age," I say, keeping my voice and expression neutral.

"I bet I can change that," he smirks confidently.

"Eww. I am still here Mason," Faith says with disgust. Carver's head snaps up when she says that and she quickly looks down, flushing scarlet.

'Carver is your mate?' I mindlink her.

'Who's Carver?'

'The one that just looked at you. On Mason's left.'

'Oh...maybeeee,' she drawls out, blushing again.

'He's the Gamma by the way. He's super nice and funny.'

'Good to know...'

I smirk at her and nod.

"Carver. Drew. This is my sister, Faith. She is staying here at the pack house for the time Mason and I are gone. You'll both watch over her, right?"

"For sure, Luna," Carver answers, his lips threatening to tug up into a smirk. I roll my eyes at them, grinning at Carver.

"How old are you Faith?" Drew asks, cocking his head to the side.

"15. My birthday is in 2 months."

"Cool. I'm sure you'll fit right in with us and the girls," Drew smiles charmingly at her to which she blushes madly at. Carver subtly glares at the side of Drew's face for having such an effect on her. I attempt to cover my laugh, but end up snorting which turns into a coughing fit instead. The overall experience results in me laughing anyways. So yeah, I'm pretty skilled.

Mason kneels in front of me, looking at me worriedly. "Are you okay baby?"

I nod at him, clearing my throat multiple times to try and stop coughing.

"I'm good, I'm good," I finally manage out, laughing again, now nervously. He looks at me strangely but lets it go and changes his position to sitting next to me on the couch, swinging my legs over his own to keep me closer.

"Okay guys, It's getting really late . We have to leave early tomorrow so its off to bed for us. We'll see you two in the morning?"

"Possibly. I do like sleep though and you're leaving early," Carver shrugs. Drew nods along and then they both say their goodbyes and walk out the door, closing it behind them.

"So you two share the bed and I'll take the couch," Mason offers sweetly.

"No way. Mason just get in the bed with my sister. I'm taking the couch and staying as far from the both of you as I can." Faith shoos us from the couch, resulting in Mason picking me up bridal style and walking me to the bed.

"There are tons of blankets and pillows inside the closet right across the hall. Do you know how much you want?"

"I got it. Thank you Mason. I'm going downstairs to get bottled water. I'll be back in a few."
