Elemental

Ceremony- Katherine

Katherine's POV

I sat with my sister Alina. We were riding the train to the Sorting Ceremony. I messed with my jacket, nervously. "What element do you want?" I asked her. "Fire sounds cool. But then again so does water" She said. I nodded "I'm hoping for water" I said. We sat in a comfortable silence the rest of the ride. The train stopped and we gave each other nervous looks. We followed the rest of the 14 year olds to a building. The Queens and Kings of each element would be there watching us. What If I don't get an element? I thought nervously.

A women in a white suit greeted us at the doors. "Once these doors open you will file into the auditorium. You will each be called one by one. You will walk up the stage and take your test" She told us. She walked into the hall and a second later the doors opened. "Please welcome our new Elementals" She announced to the crowd. We walked to the seats and sat down. "Let the Ceremony commence" The women announced. "Alina Andrews!" A voice called. She stood and shot me a nervous smile. I smiled back and felt my heart pounding against my chest. She took a breath and walked to the stage. She walked to the center and faced the crowd.

A women walked on the opposite side of the stage and walked to my sister's side. I watched as she injected my sister with something. There was a pause then my sister went up in flames. I had to stop myself from yelling and running forward. The flames died down and I saw my sister standing without a burn on her. I looked at her right shoulder and saw the tattoo belonging to the Fire element. She walked down the steps labeled with a sign above it that matched her tattoo.

"Katherine Andrews!" The women called. I took a deep breath and walked up the steps. I walked to the women keeping eye contact with her. She had blonde hair and light blue almost grey eyes. I stood in front of her then turned to the crowd. I felt a pinch in my arm then my vision faded to black. I opened my eyes and I was in a white room. I looked around and there was no furniture in it. All of a sudden fire exploded in one corner. I threw my hand out instinctively and water shot out of my hand, dousing the fire.

I opened my eyes and saw that I was back on the stage. Water was swirling around me. My right shoulder felt cold and I looked at it. I realized that the mark was being made. The water disappeared and the crowd started clapping. I looked at the balcony and saw the Queens and Kings. The water element had a Queen and so did Air. Fire and Earth both had Kings. I bowed my head out of respect then turned around. I found the water steps and walked down them. I opened a door and saw a group of people there. "Our first Elemental!" One of them said. "Welcome to Water" A girl told me. I smiled at them and looked around the room. The walls were grey and there was some blue couches. There was a black table with matching chairs.

I looked back to the group. "What is your name?" A man asked. I cleared my throat "Katherine Andrews" I answered. "Well Katherine why don't you take a seat? The Ceremony will be long." The same man said. I nodded and sat at the table. I looked at the mark on my right shoulder. We waited for a while and a few more people joined us. There were about 15 people in all. They had us all sit a the table. We sat in silence until the door opened. I looked at the door and saw Queen Annabella standing there. I quickly jumped up and bowed. The rest jumped up after me.

"Sit" The Queen ordered softly. I looked at her and noticed that she had blue eyes like mine. She had light brown hair while I had black hair. "Welcome to Water. Once we get back you will meet your mentors. After that you will go to your bunks. You are to start your training tomorrow morning." She said. She studied us and I thought her eyes lingered on me. Don't be silly I thought. "Come. Our journey is a long one" She told us. We stood and she led us out of the room. I stood at the front of the new recruits as we walked out.

The other elements were leaving also. I looked towards the Fire group and spotted my sister. She looked at me and we smiled at each other. I looked forward when we reached the train. One of the welcoming group helped her on to the train and we filed in after her. She sat down then we followed suit. "Now. What are your names?" She asked us kindly. Nobody spoke so I looked at her "Katherine Andrews" I said. She smiled at me. I smiled back and the others started saying their name. "Carter William" One boy said. He had brown hair and green eyes. I noticed I was staring at him and quickly looked away.
