And the nightmare wouldn't stop replaying in my head. Because it wasn't just a nightmare.

Conner Sykes.

The name bounces through my head, my heart races impossibly faster at his name. My throat started closing up and I was suddenly gasping for air, my hands instinctively gripping my neck to pull off whatever was choking me. But nothing was... I was myself. Conner wasn't here. I'm doing this to myself.

'Sage... Relax. We are free of him for more months to come. He can't hurt us anymore. Relax, please,' she pleaded calmly. My heartrate slowly began decreasing as my mind soaked in her words. He was gone. He can't get to me. He is gone. Gone.

'Come on Sage. Let's go for a run. It will help you feel better.'

'Me or you,' I respond cheekily, trying to play off my panic attack as nothing. Obviously stupid because she felt the pain and fear just as much as I did.

'Just shift!' She snaps playfully.

I happily agree and leave the pack house in a tank-top and booty shorts. I'm stripping once I hit the trees anyway.

When I get around to shifting, I hand over control to my over excited wolf. 'What's got you so ecstatic?'

'You'll see!' She barks happily and takes off in a full sprint towards the border.

'Seraphina...' I warn her. I can see her wheels turning and I know for a fact what her plan is to get me to relax more.

'Sage....' She teases back in the same tone.

I growl at her and attempt I get control back, but her will to see our mate is way higher than my will to not see him. I did promise her I'd try...so I finally just sink back into my own mind and enjoy the feel of the wind whipping through my black and white fur.

I think I look like an oversized husky. I even have bright blue eyes in wolf form. Seraphina fights me on that all the time and says that huskies are just an undersized us. She likes to be number one if you haven't noticed.

I perk up again from my thoughts when I smell Mason getting closer. And then I feel a pain through all my muscles as Seraphina takes us past our border. The border has like a force so when a member of the pack runs from the territory or accidentally step over the line without permission, you feel like a million cramps go through each of your muscles. It's slightly painful, but it only lasts a few short seconds.

'Seraphina! We need to stay in the territory!'

'We need Mason! He is depressed from you running from him and was too sad to go to school as well! He's my mate too you know!'

'He'll get over it! We need to get back before Conner's dad realizes we left!'

'Mason is patrolling and is leaving now! He is getting further away as we speak! Do you want to fight me and take longer, or chase him now and be back sooner?' She growls, already pushing our legs to the limit in order to catch up with our Alpha mate. He's most likely only jogging at most, but he can still gain distance pretty quickly.

I'm surprised he didn't smell me when I smelt him.

A growl suddenly roared from behind me and Seraphina spun around quickly to face a wolf larger than us. He had confidence dripping off of him and I am just going to guess Beta. He's too cocky though. How obnoxious.

The guy shifted and put on pants that had been tied to his ankle.

"What do you think you are doing here? This is not your pack lands. Go home now or face the punishment. The Alpha is on his way so I'd suggest you leave before he arrives. He might not go as easy on you as I am." The guy smirks at me like he's something great and I automatically growl at him. He's too stupid for his own good. "Fine. Your choice." He growls back at me and stands his ground. I could feel Mason getting extremely close and my wolf was happily dancing in our head.
