"You're getting better Y/N," Dinah complimented, passing you the basketball again.
"Dinah, I'm two for fifteen shots."
"I'm trying to be positive."
"Well, thank you for keeping my hopes of getting into the WNBA alive."
You bounced the overinflated ball again, then took a wild shot from the block. It hit high on the glass, bounced off the back of the rim, and dropped through the net.
"Three for sixteen," Dinah smirked.
"Okay, I'm done. You play now." You said, sitting down with your back against the wall. The Polynesian recovered the ball, then dribbled it through her legs a few times.
"I wonder if this is all we're gonna do in PE. Just have free days," she mused.
You shrugged. "I dunno. I hope so, though."
After that, you just watched Dinah play her favorite sport, mesmerized by how easily she shot the ball through the net. You hoped she didn't notice your staring. It was kind of hard not to look at her, though. She was beautiful, funny, caring, and you were developing a slight crush on her. Okay, maybe a big crush. But it wasn't like you could do anything about it. She probably didn't feel the same way.
"Y/N," Dinah called. "You're staring again."
Your cheeks flushed red. "S-sorry."
She smiled, then went back to shooting. "It's fine, babe." You almost died right there at her calling you babe. "So, what are you doing for the homecoming dance?"
"I, uh, I don't know yet."
"You gonna ask anyone?"
Dinah cocked an eyebrow. "Do I know this person?"
"Quite well, actually."
"Hm. I hope they say yes," she winked.
"So do I."
"I heard Lauren is gonna ask Ally to go with her."
"Yeah," you confirmed. "I made her a sign."
"You think Ally will say yes?"
"Mhm. I hope so, anyway, for Lauren's sake. She's been crushing on Ally for like three years."
"Damn. Date already."
"Right? I need my ship to sail."
Dinah chuckled and bounced the ball off the cement wall mindlessly.
"Who are Camila and Normani going with?" You asked her, causing her to hold the ball still.
"I think they're going with a group. Like the cheerleading squad and some of the football players."
"Are you gonna tag along with them?"
"I might," she confessed. "Unless someone else asks me."
