Her heart raced with the beating of the drums, ear throttling to the point of painful. Each step that leapt off the pavement was another step closer to her goal, a goal she thought was so far out of reach it was but mist. Headlights from oncoming traffic temporally blinded her well adjusted eyes, sweat trickled down perfectly manicured dark brows.
Smells of the country wafted threw the air, filling her lung with its pungent sweet smell. She licked her lips, making them moist once more. The bare toes of her feet cracked against the black tar, ripped jeans soaked in spots of blood clung to long legs that if weren’t covered would show a light summer tan.
Her hair was once tied in a tight ponytail, now blew in the oncoming wind she made as she pushed faster. A white tank top stain in his blood started to smell of decay, it twisted her stomach into a knot. Sounds of sirens filled the night sky, her heart leapt back into her throat once more. Breath lightly fogged reminding her winter was soon approaching.
Their singing screams grew closer, even with her pace she wasn’t going to make it. Tears started to form at the thought of being brought back to that house, the house of pain, torment and her cursed life. All brought down by one man. One man with enough power to kill her and get away without a scratch, he had so many powerful men in the palm of his hand it was sickening. With every passing day spent inside that dark room, she’d come to see patterns in his daily routine. Like any smart woman she was taking mental notes, she was working on a plan to escape, to rid herself of the life she so desperately didn’t ask for. For the last four years she’d been his toy, his puppet and nothing but a rouse for him to laugh at.
A beating for any small mistake while degrading her with his sexual desires, to many nights of crying herself to sleep had put her to a easy decision. He needed to go….
It didn’t matter how, but more like soon. The ticking of the red clock screamed with every passing second she was stuck in there. No room for error, no mistakes could be made. She’d get one shot. The adrenaline had been pumping so fast she swore it was going to blind her, or if anything ripe her chest open so her heart had more room to breath.
She waited, to which felt like hours. When finally his shiny black sports car pulled into the driveway, it beeped twice flashing headlight in warning. He was so close. She could almost smell his pungent cologne that she despised so much. Keys jingled in the lock, her body thumbed all over. Skin prickled with the idea that maybe she should wait. She shook her head. No. It had to be today, she’d not get another opportunity like this again.
The door closed as did her eyes, this was it. He’d want his meal, the newspaper and a hot cup of coffee while she walking in the most revealing thing he could muster to find. God she hated those foolish outfits, a maid, nurse or some other form of degrading costume. Yes to come it was a sexual fantasy, but for her it was another form of degrading her self esteem.
He called for her in a deep rumble which would of made her at one point curl her toes, now all it seemed to do when send a shock wave of fear rolling down her spine. Hurrying as to cause no suspicious she grabbed his plate setting it in front of him as he took up the head seat, a hard slap to her ass as a reward made bile rise. She smiled as sweetly as one could in the current situations he was putting her in.
Standing behind him scowling with enough hate to scare the devil himself she waited. The snapping of his fingers grew her rising hate, he’d want his coffee and paper now. Trying to pull off the sweet house mouse she was so trained to be, she handed him the paper with a smile before walking into the kitchen and making his coffee ever so perfectly. The tasteless sleeping aid she dropped in was shaking in her hand, pouring in a little cream the spoon spun the ingredient around and around.
Eyes closed tightly before sucking in a deep breath, she had to do this. Yet this wasn’t even the hardest part to come. Licking her lips as if that would give her the courage to go on she picked up the mug walking it into the dinning room, he was only on the second page when she set the mug down and stood waiting for any other fowl requests he’d have. When his hand moves wrapping fingers around the handle she held her breath, without sparing her a glance his lips pressed firmly over the white mug.
The slurping sounds were enough to make nails on a chalk board enjoyable. When his eyes looked into the mug and then slowly snaked to her, she swore he knew. Doing anything to think otherwise she smiled as best she could keeping her hands behind her back, as her slender fingers twitched with the idea to bolt. A brow of his rose before taking another sip. He places the mug down returning to the paper, had she thought he wouldn’t hear she’d of let out a loud sigh of relief.
Another page turned before she started to see it was kicking in, those shit brown eyes grew heavier by the second. Shaking his head as a yawn form from thin lips she stood firm speaking not a word, the heavy sigh he made before the paper was lowered was a sure sign he was done. Sliding the chair from the table he reached for her arm, grabbing her more roughly then most times. She wanted to blame the sleep aid, but just didn’t care anymore.
Pulling her along she went willingly to cause no suspicion. This had to work, just had to. Climbing the stairs to their bedroom her eyes closed with the thought of him touching her again, every night was some new form of pain. Halfway up and he began to sway, her eyes shot open to the tightening grip he was using to hold himself up. His left foot caught on the next step sending him into a spiral of downwardness, instinct took over for her own safety as she tried to press her body against the wall. Those thick fingers tightened ten fold around her small wrist, yelping in fear as he pulled her down with him. Doing anything to stop what felt like her death in slow motion she grabbed the banister, his weight twisted when his leg caught between one of the wooden spokes. It snapped bending outward in a sharp pointed fashion, his weight slide harshly down the stairs dragging her along with him. She saw it before she could stop it, and the pain that ripped threw her leg was enough to send her screaming out all the pain she’d felt while living with this man.
The banister creaked so loud she swore it was going to pull away from the screws that held it vast to the wall. Shaking loose of his hold she grabbing the banister with that hand as well to elevate some of the pressure of the harsh wood that penetrated her leg, her eyes water with burning tears. Never really having a wound so deeply she grinded her teeth together hoping to take her mind off the pain. Slowly, ever so slowly she opened her eyes to see the man in a crumbled mess at the bottom of the stairsHis breathing was labored and slowly declining, but at the moment she couldn’t care if he was bleeding out in front of her. Ever so gently she pulled the splintering wood from her leg, blood coated like molasses over the lightly stained sculpted piece. Hissing out she panted like a dog in the summer time heat, looking over the wound she thanked her lucky stars. Though it was not pretty it also wasn’t as bad as it could have been, it had torn threw her jeans and cut into a few ribbons of muscle.
But the damage was minimal due to her swift thinking of turning her leg to the side, now all she had to do was get out of the damn house before he came to. A gurgle of a moan interrupted her thoughts, that man was still far from dead. Like any being out to survive she urged herself to push forward. Her body bristled with the idea of freedom, all she had to do was get to that front door and it would be a distant memory.
Slowly she took each step prayers were sent for every muscle she twitched, like one of the many horror movies she’d been forced to endure she kept her eyes glued to the man who would be her soul undoing. Taken from her home, her family and the safety of what she knew. This man was down right evil, a sin of a creature.
